Request to downgrade block to partial block of some pages
12.28.52.123 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I am aware that I have been involved in an ugly dispute by others and I regret any wrongdoing that might have been caused in the process. For context, the serious dispute first started at here where an editor removed large quantities of text under the reason of "crufty", "non encyclopedic", "non-reliable source" and so on. This was then challenged by one or more anonymous editors on proxy IP addresses stewarding the pages with the rationale that removals constitutes censorship, in text attribution is enough, perpetuation of systematic bias and so on. It took a bad turn when either one of the pro-retention editors gone rogue or a vandal overlapped with their IP range enough to impersonate the good editor(s) who then wreaked havoc and turn it into a disaster. As a result, some pages were protected and the relevant contents were reverted/removed as if they're like an apple from the poisonous tree. They all share some blame for not going to appropriate venues like Dispute Resolution Noticeboards to sort it out peacefully. In fact shortly before the block as earlier discussion with the editor who made the bold removal on talk space had had languished, I am on the very brink of starting a thread on Dispute Resolution Noticeboard per my own suggestion. Due of these I would like the block to be downgraded to an extended partial block on these pages so that more focus can be placed on resolving the dispute instead of edit warring: * Nuclear and radiation accidents and incidents * Vulnerability of nuclear plants to attack * Hacktivism * Cyberterrorism * Timeline of events associated with Anonymous * Data breach * Assassination of Kim Jong-nam * Timeline of Internet conflicts * List of security hacking incidents * Cyber Anakin Moreover they can also be semi-protected for a while while the dispute is being peacefully sorted out because this is a school IP and often I'm on dynamic home addresses which I'm reluctant to use because those articles involve sensitive political topics, which I think other fellow editors are aware of. 12.28.52.123 (talk) 15:43, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
Decline reason:
We're not going to unblock you if you're only intention is to spam Cyber Anakin all over the place. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:47, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
