Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Ultra (British band) → Ultra (band) (currently a redirect instead to Ultra) (move · discuss) – unambiguous 162 etc. (talk) 22:02, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- ThinkServer (currently a redirect to ThinkSystem) → ThinkSystem (move · discuss) – Product line rebrand, page should use current name. Edit history as 3 lines: init, add category, revert. —Nils von Barth (nbarth) (talk) 15:11, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- Andre DeToth (currently a redirect to Andre de Toth) → Andre de Toth (move · discuss) – Name as used in most of the reliable sources, while most of the other Wikipedias use Andre De Toth. The page in fact uses "de Toth" and notes in the lead "better known as Andre de Toth". It was previously at André de Toth until moved without discussion. The only comment in the Talk page is an IP saying the name should be "de Toth". Moonraker (talk) 15:31, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- A Gay Girl In Damascus (currently a redirect to A Gay Girl in Damascus) → A Gay Girl in Damascus (move · discuss) – Correct title case (no need to capitalize conjunctions) Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 22:20, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- Siana Cup (currently a redirect to Siana cup) → Siana cup (move · discuss) – Per MOS:CAPS, WP:NCCAPS, and to agree with its own text. This is a general class of object, like stirrup jar, not a specific named artificat like the Ninnion Tablet. Would have just moved it manually, but the move is blocked by an edited redirect. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 00:16, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Tyla (South African singer) (currently a redirect to Tyla) → Tyla (singer) (currently a redirect instead to Tyla) (move · discuss) – was initially "Tyla (singer)" then moved to a disambiguation section where there is no subject named "Tyla (... singer)" dxneo (talk) 13:31, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- On hold for this one. There have been moves between the two titles despite a RM discussion. @Illusion Flame, which talk page is this 2023-11-11T22:09:56Z edit summary referring to? – robertsky (talk) 14:03, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- Nevermind, found it. Talk:Tyla_(English_musician)#Requested_move_4_November_2023, which seems to reverse the previous RM discussion. In light of this, @Dxneo if you wish to proceed, usually I would advise to open a RM discussion, but being the previous close been a week ago or so, a WP:MRV after if after a discussion with Illusion Flame, the closer, doesn't pan out. – robertsky (talk) 14:12, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

- Tyla (singer) is the stable article title, per the September 2023 RM. The undiscussed move to Tyla (South African singer) should be reverted. 162 etc. (talk) 22:00, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Robertsky: The November 2023 RM you referenced above concerned Tyla (English musician), not this article. 162 etc. (talk) 22:04, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Total Information Awareness → Total information awareness (currently a redirect back to Total Information Awareness) (move · discuss) – per MOSCAPS Primergrey (talk) 08:56, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- From the way I see it, it is a proper name of a program though. – robertsky (talk) 09:25, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- Plave (band) (currently a redirect to Plave) → PLAVE (South Korean band) (move) – stylisation and added description for uniformity with other pages of the same topic 𝙥𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙭𝙞𝙚 (talk) 19:03, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose, see MOS:ALLCAPS and WP:BANDDAB. 162 etc. (talk) 19:10, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- MOS:ALLCAP explicitly disrecommends this styling. Ca talk to me! 03:23, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- Lovin On Me (currently a redirect to Lovin on Me) → Lovin on Me (move · discuss) – per MOS:CAPS as the word "on" is a preposition. 23.134.91.238 (talk) 06:34, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- No, it isn't being used as a preposition in this case. I already addressed this at Talk:Lovin On Me, in this case "On" is part of the phrasal verb "Lovin On", like Take On Me. Ss112 07:26, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- Ss112, but yet "Don't Forget to Pray" was moved from Don't Forget To Pray although it kind of look the same as this matter to me. I stand to be corrected. dxneo (talk) 16:37, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- The "to" in that is a preposition, not a particle in a phrasal verb. The "Lovin [o|O]n" case, however, is debatable. "Lovin[g] on" isn't a unitary phrase with a meaning separate from "loving" + "on"; "loving" without "on" is regularly used in the exact same romatico-sexual sense meant here. "Take on", by contrast, has a variety of special meanings such as 'rise to a challenge' and 'oppose or fight' which are not derivable from the separate meanings of the verb take and of the preposition on (the borderline case with that one would be "take on an important role", "take on a new apprentice" and similar constructions refering to acquisition; these come from taking someone or something on board a vessel, so that sense at least originated prepositionally). — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 00:31, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

- Advanced Traffic Management System → Advanced traffic management system (currently a redirect instead to Active traffic management) (move · discuss) – per MOSCAPS Primergrey (talk) 10:05, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- Advanced traffic management system has history which was previously merged into Active traffic management. I think the same should take place with the Advanced Traffic Management System page - merge it into the consolidated article. There is no need for separate pages on largely the same topic. — Amakuru (talk) 11:37, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- The MOS:CAPS / MOS:FIELD point remains valid. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:35, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- Ram Rebel TRX (currently a redirect to Ram 1500 TRX) → Ram 1500 TRX (move · discuss) – Making this page about the production truck instead of just the concept. RickyCourtney (talk) 23:27, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- This was contested just a year ago or so, and resulted in a No consensus outcome. – robertsky (talk) 03:05, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- Galapagos penguin → Galápagos penguin (currently a redirect back to Galapagos penguin) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME & WP:DIACRITICS: main article (Galápagos Islands), most sources, & article itself use á. Dan the Animator 23:44, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
