If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests

Uncontroversial technical requests

I think the current article title is probably legit due to the practice of denoting either the state OR the city in article titles as natural disambiguation. If there were a parallel article for the city it would be called "Capital punishment in New York City", just like Geography of New York City or Demographics of New York City. Meanwhile, related namespaces that do not include the state or city typically go to disambig pages like Climate of New York. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:48, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What about Capital punishment in the state of New York per WP:NATDIS? JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 03:01, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would support this, but agree it's not uncontroversial. Dicklyon (talk) 17:10, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requests to revert undiscussed moves

Contested technical requests

redirects to Rocky Rodríguez whose actual name is Raquel Rodriguez though... – robertsky (talk) 11:43, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Most incoming links are for the soccer player. Not an uncontroversial primary topic. 162 etc. (talk) 16:55, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Margarte00, this technical request has been contested and thus requires a formal Requested Move discussion. You can start one by clicking "discuss" in your request. You can remove this request after opening a discussion (or if you do not want to continue). Sennecaster (Chat) 14:39, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
