Contested deletion

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the SCTA is the first organization to codify rules and maintain records for Land Speed Racing. There are other organizations in the US, but with 1 exception (AMA, American Motorcycle Association) SCTA is the only body that maintains American records set on the Bonneville Salt Flats. SCTA has been in existence since the 1950s and has been responsible for sanctioning and recording hundreds of LSR meets and thousands of records.

This organization may not seem important to those who are not involved with Land Speed Racing, but to those of us who are, we'd be lost without their governance. — Ray the Rat (talk) 18:20, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
