Thiago Braz da Silva (born 16 December 1993) is a Brazilian athlete specializing in the pole vault. He currently holds the Olympic record of 6.03 metres.
Career
In 2012 he won the gold medal at the World Junior Championships.
In 2013 he became the South American champion with a new area record outdoor of 5.83 metres. On 24 June 2015 he reached the new record of 5.92 metres in Baku, Azerbaijan.[1]
On 13 February 2016 he extended the South American record indoor of 5.93 metres in Berlin, Germany.[2]
On 15 August 2016, he won gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro, recording a new Olympic and South American record of 6.03 metres. He was just 1 cm to match the Brad Walker's Americas record, who did 6,04m on June 8, 2008.
