Rachel-Anne Ely (née Showalter) (1971 - ) was born in San Francisco, California. The moniker Liakela was taken up by her in approx. 2001 after discovering that it was a rough Polynesian translation of the name Rachel.
Early Life
[edit]Rachel, an only child, spent the first 8 years of her life in San Francisco. As a single parent, her mother did her best to keep track of Rachel, but she was a wild child who was prone to acting outrageously and had run away from home several times.
When her mother remarried, the family was packed and moved to the other side of the country, eventually to a small farm in Rhode Island, where she remained until her junior year in high school.
