IP edit-warring

Concerning the IP (104.157.207.107)? I believe you have a case for edit warring. They'll not stop until they're blocked. GoodDay (talk) 17:50, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see it has been dealt with. Flibirigit (talk) 21:02, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
Hello Flibirigit:

Did you know ... that back in 1885, Wikipedia editors wrote Good Articles with axes, hammers and chisels?

Thank you for your contributions to this encyclopedia using 21st century technology. I hope you don't get any unnecessary blisters.

Herding cats

"Categories into alphanumeric order, living people should come immediately after birth year" [1] Can you point me to where it says this? I have been putting them in ascii-betical order. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:13, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My edit summary is simply an explanation of what I did, rather than policy. The relevant guideline is Wikipedia:FAQ/Categorization, which states "alphabet and importance are used to order categories". In my experience, the important categories are "eponymous categories" followed by "birth year", then "death year/living people"; then followed by everythng else in alphanumeric order. For example, see categories at Oprah Winfrey. Flibirigit (talk) 00:22, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What you’re writing isn’t factual and it’s upsetting to members of my family. Please correct the info I put in. You are reporting mis-information. Im curious as to where are you getting the info? It’s factually incorrect. Shene1966 (talk) 18:54, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The information is properly sourced by the citations in the article. Please see the citations and look at WP:RS. Best wishes. Flibirigit (talk) 19:33, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

List of IIHF World Championship medalists

Hello there,

I'm writing here because it seems we're in a disagreement regarding the statement about Russia's non-participation in the IIHF WCs, and also I don't want to start edit wars so I decided to reach out to You here. With all respect as a fellow user, I really don't see how the statement that Russia is currently banned from IIHF events for political reasons (or any reasons at all) is related to the medal content. The table is about how many medals each country has won, the note clarifies that Russia is a successor state to the USSR. I really don't see how is the fact that Russia is currently banned from participation relevant to this information.

Cheers 〜〜〜〜 Shallov (talk) 17:33, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Any discussion should be at Talk:List of IIHF World Championship medalists. Not on a personal talk page. Flibirigit (talk) 17:45, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing of easily verifiable, uncontroversial claims: Wayne Gretzky

Don Cherry

If you want to remove that paragraph, you need to take it to the talk page. There's absolutely no way a reasonable person would look at it and say "That has nothing to do with Don Cherry." Literally all of the sourcing is devoted to Cherry. Andrew Englehart (talk) 15:36, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In anticipation of your opposition to this, I started the talk page discussion myself here. Andrew Englehart (talk) 15:45, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK etiquette and rules

Hi Flibirigit, your statement that you "volunteer[ed] two QPQ credits for one nomination, to help reduce the backlog of nominations without reviews" on Did you know nominations/Joe Wirkkunen is what inspired me to do my first review, even though I hadn't needed to do one yet (my second DYKN is still only waiting to be reviewed). But only after going through it I realized, as you pointed out, that by making a suggestion and not sticking to just reviewing it, I had unknowingly set it up such that someone else needed to come in approve my suggestion. That definitely wasn't my intention, though I can see why with the value of hindsight. I had assumed that by simply rearranging, which to me seemed like the obvious solution, I wouldn't have become involved.

My question is: in the future, if there is a DYKN that I'm going to review, is it best to simply just stick to reviewing and allow others to make suggestions? Is that the appropriate etiquette? I'm asking because you seem quite familiar with the process and I'm eager to help with any backlog. I had waited to ask until someone else approved the aforementioned DYKN, to avoid the idea that we were further colluding outside of the appropriate project space. Thanks in advance, Bobby Cohn (talk) 20:49, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewers are welcome to sit back and let others suggest hooks, or become involved. Either is acceptable since we're all trying to help. WT:DYK is always a great place to ask questions without judgment. Flibirigit (talk) 21:35, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Dezső Varga

On 2 October 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Dezső Varga, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Dezső Varga was the first Szekler ice hockey player to be inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Dezső Varga. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Dezső Varga), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Central Military Hospital in Prague

Do not use the term "Střešovice" Hospital for https://www.uvn.cz/en/ . It is a very common Czech mistake.

78.128.221.5 (talk) 14:21, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As I mentioned on your talk page, you have not provided any reliable source which states that W. A. Hewitt was taken to a military hospital of any kind. None of the links above have anything to do with Hewitt. Flibirigit (talk) 14:39, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Because the so-called "Střešovice" Hospital is a Central Military Hospital in Prague, on their website with the new name Military University Hospital Prague: https://www.uvn.cz/en/
It's clear to you now? 78.128.221.5 (talk) 15:02, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
