A Page question
[edit]I was wondering why does the page for Hal Weatherman redirect you to the page for the 2024 North Carolina lieutenant gubernatorial election when you search for it? ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 14:55, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- @ReallyAmazingDude13: You can refer to Wikipedia:Redirect § Purposes of redirects—Bagumba (talk) 15:14, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Bagumba Which one do I need to look at on that page to answer my question? ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 15:40, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- @ReallyAmazingDude13: Which of the reasons listed there do you think might apply? I was not the creator of Hal Weatherman. —Bagumba (talk) 16:59, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker)@ReallyAmazingDude13: It appears to redirect there because according to the article infobox he is one of the two major candidates for that election, so it's a plausible search term. If you believe he is notable and have access to sources that discuss him, you are free to be bold and turn the redirect into its own article. Left guide (talk) 02:39, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Left guide What sources about him would I need in order to be bold and turn the redirect into its own article ReallyAmazingDude13 (talk) 03:32, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)@ReallyAmazingDude13: I don't have much time to put on this right now, but WP:POLITICIAN offers a very brief overview of politician notability and WP:NSUBPOL is the fuller page. Ultimately, independent secondary reliable sources are ideal for starting up a new article. Maybe try searching the subject's name on Google News and seeing what's there; I think the person's political stances and political history are the types of topics the average reader might expect. If you're seeking more specialized help, consider consulting the Elections WikiProject folks at WT:WikiProject Elections and Referendums. Or try starting a draft at Draft:Hal Weatherman which should attract feedback from experienced "Articles for creation" reviewers. Hope this helps, good luck. Sorry to bug you
[edit]but Max Hall might need protection or something. This person keeps coming back with different IPs. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 21:25, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
- @WikiOriginal-9: I'm WP:INVOLVED on this topic, so I wont't personally protect the page, plus one might call it a content dispute (though I disagree). YMMV depending on the admin looking at a protection request. What I have done is started Talk:Max Hall#Lead sentence. If they continue to revert without consensus, that can be grounds for a block or page protection. As far as the IP addresses, its generally normal if the same user's IPv6 address varies after the first 16 characters; it's not anything nefarious. —Bagumba (talk) 03:04, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
- Semi protected for 48 hours. BusterD (talk) 03:22, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Don Bragg (basketball)
[edit]On 5 November 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Don Bragg (basketball), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Korean War allowed Don Bragg to set a UCLA basketball record for the most rebounds by a varsity freshman, which stood for almost 40 years? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Don Bragg (basketball). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Don Bragg (basketball)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
