Catya Sassoon

Hi,

I saw that you created the Catya Sassoon article. "Cat" Sassoon was credited in some of her film appearances as a "karate champion" and I'm trying to find out if this was genuine. Any idea about it ? Thanks, Wedineinheck 08:02, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

that was the promo for the movie "Angelfist", anyway : http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/71SQV4544KL._SS500_.gif I tried to find some info about it, but so far to no avail. It might have been B.S. by producer Roger Corman. I have yet to see the whole movie. Clips suggest that she did have some athletic skills (but she was a dancer, I think) but that she was dubbed for the more complicated stunts. Not that it means anything, as real martial artists aren't necessarily acrobats. Wedineinheck 08:55, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the trailer for the movie : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9C4liKJqAA Wedineinheck 09:00, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Cynthia Rothrock, who is a totally genuine karate champ, was sometimes dubbed by a man for her stunts (stunts, not fights), but that is simply because in the Hong Kong movies she did, she would have risked breaking her neck (not all martial artists are gifted stuntmen and the required acrobatic skills were simply enormous). But anyway, all google searchs including Cat Sassoon and karate lead to pages related to the movie, so I kind of suspect that it could have been made up. The best way to find out would be to contact the "World Karate Association" (now "World Kickboxing Association") she was purportedly champion of and ask if she had any genuine record with them. Hi again,

as I had some time to kill, I emailed the World Kickboxing Association, and was answered this by a "Dr Peter Lewis" :

Sorry can't help. We don't know this person.

WKA

The bullshit suspicions are becoming more and more precise... :) Wedineinheck 10:41, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I found on youtube a compilation of scenes from the movie : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDkSUmA-UtA&mode=related&search= not that it means anything (bad fight choreography doesn't help) but I'm quite not convinced by her skills as a martial artist. She does seem to be at least a good gymnast, though. Look out for the "naked fighting" scene. Wedineinheck 13:35, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism warning

Please do not delete content from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Template:Provinces and territories of Canada. Your edits do not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use Wikipedia:Sandbox for test edits. Thank you.

Yeah, sorry for that. It wasn't intended vandalism. I was attempting to edit an info box in which the template was and I hit "save" instead of "preview". I tried going back to the original template, but I couldn't figure out what it was called. For some reason, it didn't dawn on me to undo my last edit and instead, I finished the edit and called it a night. Sorry for any inconvenience. Pinkadelica 03:08, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:GraceKelly50s.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 17:14, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
