Please consider taking the AGF Challenge

I would like to invite you to consider taking part in the AGF Challenge which has been proposed for use in the RfA process [1] by User: Kim Bruning. You can answer in multiple choice format, or using essay answers, or anonymously. You can of course skip any parts of the Challenge you find objectionable or inadvisable.--Filll (talk) 14:16, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

3D-Palace notability

Hi. I wrote an article about a website that is a pioneer in the 3d application video tutorials. It is considered spam, even if it was the first company to produce end to end video tutorials. I consider that being pretty important. If this matter isn't worthy to be in an encyclopedia, I ask you why is the 3D Buzz article still online? I followed that article as an example, and so far 3 of the articles I wrote were considered spam. I've read the guidelines, but they are very ambiguous. I await your response on my talk page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by InProgress (talkcontribs) 10:52, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alexander Z. Rivkin M.D.

im editing rhinoplasty at the moment. but im very new to it all. just started last week. u can see my contribution to the talk. i think this section on Alexander Z. Rivkin M.D. should be removed. or at least greatly mondified by addition of many other surgeons. not including me. although im a surgeon, im not of international stature! im an ENT surgeon from toronto. what is the least irriating and kindest way to proceed? do we need some type of concensus process?Oakleysmith (talk) 21:06, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your help needed with removing personal info

I was reading your comments at WikipediaReview here and your actions here at Wikipedia on behalf of banned editor Jon Awbrey on the grounds that his ban is negative information that is linked to his real name and shows up in search results. You'll be interested to know that WikipediaReview published the name and location of my employer and that of two other Wikipedians, one of which received a poison pen letter to his boss. It all shows up in search results, too. Since you are very active and respected at WikipediaReview and concerned about personal and negative information being made public on the Web and effectively took the lead for Awbrey here and made a stand, I'm asking you for your help removing my personal information published at WikipediaReview. Contact me by email and I'll provide the posts to delete. Odd nature (talk) 19:22, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to help, and I promise to do what I can. However, you've no email address set so I can't contact you. Can you possibly email me, please? - Alison 23:55, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could You Have A Look

Hi Alison came across this today have a feeling they are the same editor, USER:AAA2008 created his user page today with what looked like a test edit for Atlantique Air Assistance, it was then blanked by the author of said article, and I dont know if this is breaking any rules or not, but just tought I would bring it to your attention. I have tagged the article with COI tag and is the user name of the editor User talk:Atlantique Air Assistance allowed under wiki guidelines? thanks BigDunc (talk) 14:07, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, they haven't broken any rules or anything, so they should be just fine. I noticed you tagged that article, too. Good call! I'd say just keep a watch on the article, really, and be aware that there's a likely COI there (as you already are! I know :) ) - Alison 17:28, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Hello, Alison. I wonder if you might agree with me that it would be fair and appropriate to unblock David Lauder's Talk page? What's sauce for the goose, and all that. (This is off my own bat, by the way; it may be that he's disappeared for good, which would be a pity in my opinion.) Yours, --Major Bonkers (talk) 17:20, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done - note, however, that Mr. Lauder repeatedly abused his talk page having been banned[3], thus it may well end up re-protected if he continues in that vein - Alison 17:25, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He definitely hasn't disappeared. That I can guarantee. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 17:32, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know. I'm watching closely - Alison 17:36, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. If he used sockpuppets in the way described, and the evidence seems to support that, he was foolish and you certainly won't get me supporting that. On the other hand, he was also a productive editor who, by and large, kept his nose clean in the great Anglo-Irish edit war. Anyway; have a good weekend. --Major Bonkers (talk) 08:14, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rfa thanks

Thanks for supporting my recent request for adminship which was successful with 89 supports, 0 opposes, and 2 neutrals. Unfortunately all I can offer is this lame text thanks rather than some fancy-smancy thank-you spam template thingy. I was very pleased to receive such strong support and to hear so many nice comments from editors whom I respect. I’ll do my best with the tools, and if you ever see me going astray don’t hesitate to drop a note on my talk page. Thanks again for your support!--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 04:09, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CheckUser

I need help regarding my RfA in Telugu Wikipedia. I suspect that one of the voters is a sock puppet. But I don't know how to verify. Neither do the other admins in TeWiki. The user is te:User:మౌర్యుడు. My suspicion is based on the fact that his first edit is to vote in the RfA. I have a couple of "enemies" in there. So is it possible to check whether this guy is a sock or not? I mean can you use the CheckUser tool in other wikis too? Thank you very much. Σαι ( Talk) 01:48, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You need to file a request on Meta. Alison has CU access on en-wiki only. Stewards can checkuser accounts on other wikis. miranda 03:02, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I'll do that :) Σαι ( Talk) 04:46, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help or just a pat on the head?

Hihi...I don't know if you remember me....I was one of the instigators in the Tedious Z stuff. Anyway...I stumbled on an AfD that was closed, I felt incorrectly...so I took it to review [[4]]. I am getting completely frustrated with this process. It seems that just because no one likes the guy (heck, not even ME!) that no one will admit that there is enough there to show notability...Could you take a look and give me a reality check? I may be way off, but I just feel like there is enough there. I appreciate your time and help or kick in the pants...whichever you decide to give :) (oh, btw, did you see TZ's blog, he's been kicked offa ANOTHER forum for the same thing!!) Hello

I've recently been prodded toward adminship, but I'm nervous about taking it on and I feel I need coaching. I have it on very good authority that you are an exceptional admin coach, so I thought it best to make your acquaintance and ask for your help. Please, can you help? Serendipodous 14:45, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should leave Wikipedia Review

I personally don't think you should be taking part in that site anymore. I understand why you (and I) once did, but at this point I find Wikipedia editor (and especially admin) participation there to be highly questionable. --David Shankbone 15:28, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, David, I'll leave when I'm good and ready. Enough people have already badgered me about it and I'm still there. Right now, I'm rather jaded with WR, to be honest, and for a number of reasons. Blaming the site for what has happened makes no sense whatsoever. I know exactly where the blame lies, as do you. I'm wary of blaming the collective for the actions of the few and, funny enough, that applies just as equally to Wikipedia - Alison 10:40, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Would you mind checking these two users together for me? Cheers, ṜέđṃάяķvюĨїήīṣŢ Drop me a line§ 17:49, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. There's not really much point in doing that as one account is already stale and, frankly, we dealt with the issue some months ago already - Alison 09:10, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Return of the banned

Hi Alison. I think Amorrow has reincarnated again as Special:Contributions/64.174.82.210. He restored linear equations material to Planck units by means of an edit that looks all too familiar. I reverted the edit. Lucretius (talk) 04:14, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Lucretius. That's exactly who it is - well spotted indeed. Blocked and reverted and one sock account also blocked - Alison 21:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Checkuser block

Hi Alison. There's a checkuser block causing an autoblock at User talk:Bencarroll. The account has about five edits, all last year.--chaser - t 08:41, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chaser. I'm really sorry but cannot unblock at this time. The underlying shared IP has been waaaay too abusive - Alison 21:15, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Checkuser Request - Bennet556 and Nimbley66

Can you see if User:Bennet556 and User:Bennethawk are related to blocked User:Nimbley66? They make disruptive edits on the same articles like Huntington Beach, California and Kilmarnock. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 16:26, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed - all three, now indefblocked including the sockmaster who's only here for vandalism - Alison 09:21, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed unanimously with the support of 100 editors. Your kindness is very much appreciated. William Gaillard

You recently placed a block on the William Gaillard page, which has now ended. no consenus has been reached and it is close to becoming another edit war. i have tried to use the articles talk page to reach a consensus but have not been able to so far.could you help? Dead-or-Red (talk) 17:49, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have adopted a conciliatory tone and attitude towards gaining a consensus. However it does appear that an edit war 3rr, situation is the likely outcome, obviously a position I would not want to place myself in.Londo06 17:57, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And protected again. Since the edit-war started up immediately the prot was lifted, indefinite full protection at an arbitrary revision is now in place. Guys - please try to resolve it here on the talk page. When you're both ready, feel free to let me know or post an unprot request at WP:RFPP - Alison 19:18, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
somebody else needs to look at the article, i have tried to gain consensus through the talk page, however the other editor has limited reading comprehension or has delibritly mis-quoted me in order to justify his unfounded reverts. Dead-or-Red (talk) 19:56, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep. I didn't report that one as the edits looked fine and I had some doubts. It's the only one that did make it through, though and hopefully that'll be it now ... - Alison 19:15, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alison, I have been doing some rewriting of this article (just the intro, really), and I was hoping to get another opinion if my changes have made it easier to understand:
