"Shake It"
Song
B-side"Comin' Around"

"Shake It" is the third single released from electro/pop group Metro Station from their self-titled debut album. It is their first charting single, so far reaching #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the Canadian Hot 100, as of June 2008. The single was certified Gold by the RIAA on June 13 [2008] and later platinum that year.[1]

The song was used in a TV spot for the film What Happens in Vegas..., and was featured in an ad for the American version of So You Think You Can Dance in Australia. Most recently, it was used in the theatrical trailer for How to Lose Friends & Alienate People and is also on the soundtrack of The House Bunny.

TV network The N used the song in a commercial to promote new episodes of their show Degrassi: The Next Generation.

The song was chosen as the official theme song for the 2008 Teen Choice Awards.[citation needed]

Music video

The music video for the song "Shake It" was inspired by many fans who created their own versions of the video, 63 of which the band posted as a playlist on their YouTube account. The song features the four band members as they enter a theater. Once inside the theater, they perform the song while various dancers compete against each other around them. Cameos are made by online celebrity Jeffree Star and vocalist/guitarist Trace Cyrus' girlfriend Hanna Beth as audience members watching the dancers perform. The video ends with the police entering the theater and forcing everyone out and Jesus of Nazareth descending from the ceiling with a tear in his eye, then striking a pose. This version appears in the Spanish version of the video.

Metro Station appeared on Total Request Live after the success of the song, serving milkshakes to the members of the crowd outside who could 'shake it' the best.
