Abul Qasim Nomani (born 14 January 1947) is an Indian Islamic scholar and the current Vice Chancellor[2] and Sheikh al-Hadith of Darul Uloom Deoband. He has been ranked among the 500 most influential Muslims in the world.[3]

Biography

Abul Qasim Nomani was born in Varanasi (Banaras) UP on 14 January 1947.[4] In 1960, Nomani took admission in Darul Uloom Mau for Arabic education. After that, in 1962, after studying for one year at Miftahul Uloom Mau, he went to Darul Uloom Deoband for higher education, and graduated from there in 1967. He became a member of Majlis ash-Shura (the Governing body) of Darul Uloom in 1992.[3]

Nomani was succeeded Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi as Vice-Chancellor of Darul Uloom Deoband on 24 July 2011.[5][6][7]

On 14 October 2020, Nomani was appointed as Sheikh al-Hadith in Deoband seminary.[8]
