Locutio anno Domini, plenius anno Domini nostri Iesu Christi, aliter post Christum natum, indicat numerum annorum in calendariis Iuliano et Gregoriano ab initio aerae quae dicitur aera Christiana[1] vel aera vulgaris. Compendia traditionalia plerumque sunt A.D. et p.C.n. et p.Ch.n. (sed vide etiam abbreviationem aer. vulg.).
Computatio annorum est:
- A.D. = annos ab urbe condita minus 753.
Annus Domini putatur annus quo natus est Christus; anno autem Domini (casu ablativo) significat 'anno vigente'.
