Category:Phillips family (New England)
The Phillips family of New England began with the arrival from Boxted, England of the village vicar George Phillips to Watertown, Massachusetts in 1630 as part of the Great Migration. Rev. Phillips was one of the earliest religious figures from the New World in North America, and the progenitor of generations of leaders in law, academia, business, politics, and religion. The descendants of this Boston Brahmin family include the founders of Phillips Andover and Phillips Exeter schools, Presidents of Harvard University, leaders in the 19th century slavery abolition movement, numerous local and national legislators, as well as one of the richest men in the world.
