Funkcija
[uredi | uredi izvor]Dvospecifične proteinske fosfataze inaktiviraju svoje ciljne kinaze defosforilacijom i fosfoserin/treonin[]skih i fosfotirozinskih ostataka. Oni negativno regulišu članove natporeodice MAPK (MAPK/ERK, SAPK/JNK, p38), što je povezano sa ćelijskom proliferacijom i diferencijacijom. Različiti članovi ove porodice fosfataza dvostruke specifičnosti pokazuju različite specifičnosti supstrata za MAPK, različitu distribuciju tkiva i subćelijsku lokalizaciju, te različite načine inducibilnosti njihove ekspresije vanćelijskim stimulansima. Ovaj genski proizvod veže se i inaktivira p38 i SAPK/JNK, ali ne i MAPK/ERK. Njegova subćelijska lokalizacija je jedinstvena; ravnomjerno je raspoređen i u citoplazmi i u jedru. Ovaj gen je široko eksprimiran u različitim tkivima i organima, a njegova ekspresija je pojačana stresnim podražajima. Za ovaj gen su pronađene tri varijante transkripta koje kodiraju dvije različite izoforme.[6]
