Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force – Herbert's Revenge is a point-and-click adventure game for the Nintendo DS, based on Disney's Club Penguin franchise, and is a sequel to the 2008 video game, Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force. It was released in North America on May 25, 2010, in Europe on June 25, 2010, and in Australia and New Zealand on July 8, 2010.

Plot

[edit]

You play as a secret agent in a team assembled to stop the main antagonist, Herbert P. Bear as part of the E.P.F. (Elite Penguin Force.) The game begins with you and your fellow agents (Dot the Disguise Gal, Rookie, & Jetpack Guy,) waking up in a cave and being greeted by the Director. After a series of trials in the cave, the next couple missions have you debriefed on Herbert's recent activities through PSA Secret Missions that are near-identical to ones from the web version of the game.

Gameplay

[edit]

Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force – Herbert's Revenge is a point and click game. To complete the game, the player must foil Herbert's plans by completing all 10 story missions.

Reception

[edit]

The game was also reviewed on ABC ME's programme, Good Game: Spawn Point, by co-hosts Hex and Bajo, with additional commentary provided by Darren. Hex gave a rating of 6.5/10, noting the "value" of the missions to those who didn't play the original web game, as well as the repetitive but short nature of tasks, and a "good dose of humour in the story", while Bajo gave a rating of 4.5/10, stating that it felt "rehashed", with good mini-games that "got stale pretty fast", and bonus levels that lacked "enough pizzazz to be anything special". The two agreed upon the mediocre graphics, while the audio was deemed "really disappointing", which led to Bajo muting the game altogether. Bajo concluded that it "is an average experience at best", and that players who already played the online EPF missions will find the experience to be not worth it, since "you would have played most of game already", but those who didn't might still "have the odd moment of fun." Hex concluded that the game is best suited to fans of the series "who want to take the experience with them on the road", and described it as being "repetitive and limited", but added that the story might be interesting to those that "are a fan of secret agent penguins and solving missions."[1]
