East Germany (German: Ostdeutschland), formally the German Democratic Republic or GDR (German: Deutsche Demokratische Republik, ([ˈdɔʏtʃə demoˈkʀaːtɪʃə ʀepuˈbliːk]) or DDR), wis a state within the Eastren Bloc during the Cauld War period.
