Summary

Description
English: Drawing of a lost multiple solidi of Justinian I figuring a lost equestrian statue of Justinian in Constantinople, struck in celebration of the victory in the Vandalic War. Copy in the British Museum : Electrotype copy of the Justinian medallion, the original was found near Caesarea in Cappadocia in 1751 but stolen from the French royal collection in 1831 and presumed destroyed. CEM266 and CEM216242 are copied from this electrotype.
Français : Médaillon d'or (multiple du solidus) de Justinien Ier, vers 535. Avers : Justinien Père de la Patrie. Au revers Le salut et la gloire des Romains, Justinien à cheval précédé d'une victoire ailée. Une copie en or est au British Museum : Copie électrotypique du médaillon de Justinien, l'original a été retrouvé près de Césarée en Cappadoce en 1751 mais volé dans la collection royale française en 1831 et présumé détruit. CEM266 et CEM216242 sont copiés à partir de cet électrotype.
