Jahmai Simpson-Pusey (born 4 November 2005) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for Manchester City.[1]

Early life

[edit]

He was born in Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.[2] He had trials with multiple Premier League clubs before opting to join the youth academy at Manchester City at the age of eight years-old.[3][4]

Career

[edit]

Simpson-Pusey signed a professional contract with Manchester City in July 2023.[5] A central defender, he captained the Manchester City U18 side to the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League titles in 2024.[6] That summer, he was selected to travel with the first-team on their pre-season tour and featured in matches against Milan and Celtic.[7]

Simpson-Pusey made his professional debut on 30 October 2024 appearing as a second half substitute for Manchester City in their 2–1 loss in the EFL Cup away at Tottenham Hotspur.[8] Six days later, on 5 November, he was given his first start for Manchester City and made his UEFA Champions League debut in a 4–1 away loss against Sporting CP.[7][9]
