MYBYK is a public bicycle-sharing system in India.[1]
History
[edit]MYBYK was founded in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in May 2014[2][3] by Arjit Soni. Supported by private sector funds and the Amdavad Municipal Corporation,[4][5] the project was initially started with 200 bicycles and 4 stations,[6] in conjunction with Ahmedabad Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS). The bicycle stations are located at BRTS stations,[7] which allows public transport users to use bicycles from BRTS stations to homes and offices.
MYBYK expanded its service to Jamnagar, Mumbai,[8] and Udaipur, operating with 5,500 cycles.[9][10] In 2022, MYBYK started services in Nagpur in association with Nagpur Metro, with hubs at metro stations for last-mile connectivity.[11] Around the same time, the company expanded services to the largest city in central India, Indore, in partnership with Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited with 1,000 cycles. A plan to increase the number of cycles by 3,000 was also approved.[12]
In 2023, the company launched electric bicycles as part of its fleet.[13]
App
[edit]MYBYK bicycles can be rented through a mobile app.[14]
Reliance Industries Limited, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Baxter,[clarification needed] TATA[expand acronym], Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Suzuki Motors Gujarat, SRF Chemicals Ltd., Wonder Cement, and Adani Shantigram Township are B2B clients of MYBYK.[9][15]
