Prosimetrum est genus litterarum quod et partibus orationis (prosaicae) et carminibus variorum metrorum compositum est. Originem sumit a satiris Menippi. Inter exempla prosimetri sunt Senecae Apocolocyntosis, Martiani Capellae De nuptiis philologiae et Mercurii, Boethii De consolatione philosophiae, Alani ab Insulis De planctu Naturae.
