Protein kodiran ovim genom je član porodice romboidne proteaze integralnih membranskih proteina . Ova porodica sadrži proteine koji su povezani sa drozofilsim rhomboid-1 . Članovi ove porodice se nalaze i kod prokariota i eukariota i smatra se da funkcionišu kao intramembranske serin-proteaze .
