Births
Please add Krystal Jung and Sulli Choi to the list of births in '94. They are both singers; Krystal is Korean-American, while Sulli is Korean.

It says on the Aum Shinrikyo Wikipedia article that "Aum Shinrikyo, now known as Aleph, is a Japanese new religous movment organization. The group was founded by Shoko Asahara in 1984. The group gained international notoriety in 1995, when it carried out a Sarin gas attack in the Tokyo subways." I suggest we remove it unless the other article is incorrect, which I highly doubt. Page layout years
There is a discussion on my talk page on page layout.
For most of the last three hundred years there is inconsistency and duplication between the year in topic paragraph, the "see also" box and what is on the year by topic pages. Prior to 1950 I am pretty convinced we can painlessly (except for sore fingers) delete all of the year in topic paragraphs and ensure that the material goes into a "see also" box, creating such a box where none exists. Post 1950, particularly from the "year in US television" link a lot of material has been added to this paragraph as highlights (sometimes making up most of the page content pointed at).
Personally I think we should still delete the paragraph, keep the box linking to the topic sites and move any particularly important parts of the year in topic paragraph to the main chronological list. This does involve undoing quite a bit of work which someone has done.
Therefore, unlike for prior to 1950 (where I've said no objection= I do it) for post 1950 I won't touch these pages unless a significant number of people agree with the change. (I am also unlikely to get the pre 1950 stuff done before summer unless the service speed improves dramatically). talk--BozMo 13:42, 7 May 2004 (UTC)

I came here partly to get clinton OUT of my head. If or when 1994 is mechanized, I think people will wonder what the politicians had to do with some of the stuff here. 216.234.170.66 09:36, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Part of the ceiling falling from a MLB stadium is not a minor event. While repairing the roof, a crane collapsed, killing a worker, and fears of the structural integrity of the roof during an earthquake was a major argument for replacing the stadium. -- 12.116.162.162 18:32, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

think this event is worth adding, cut from Norway and the European Union: On November 28, 1994, yet another referendum was held, narrowing the margin but yielding the same result: 52.2% opposed membership and 47.8% in favour. There are currently no plans to file another application. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.27.196.236 (talk) 01:00, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Ayrton Senna
I,ve just read about the year 1994, and it caught my eye that Ayrton Senna was appearantly killed twice back then. However, I only remember once!! :-) The dates were 21th March and 1st May!! 82.152.193.220 (talk) 21:49, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
21st of march was Ayrton Senna's birthday. Someone must have got mixed up. He died on the 1st of may 1994, the day after Ratzenburger.
What makes the main page as opposed to the topical page?
I just noticed this is the only video game listed on the main page: May 3 - The side-scrolling DOS game Jazz Jackrabbit is released by Epic Megagames.
I don't think it's nearly notable enough to be included on the main page, particularly in a year that also produced Warcraft, Killer Instinct, Virtua Figher, TIE Fighter, Doom2, and X-COM. None of which are listed.
- Computer games are not major world events, hence they do not belong on articles such as this one. Qzm (talk) 19:08, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Kurt Cobain
On this page is stated that Kurt Cobain dies on the 8th of April 1994,
but the article about him says he died on the 5th of April 1994.
8 April was the day he was found dead, but not the day he actually died,
which is (according to the examiners at that time) 5 April.
As a lot of people think that the entire Cobain-case was corrupted
Should we stick to the day we was found dead,
change it to day that (is said to be) the day he died,
or notify readers that the day Kurt died is believed to be between 3* and 8 April?
Note: 3 April is the day Courtney Love hired private investigator Tom Grant (according to Tom Grant himself)
84.245.21.57 (talk) 20:00, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
The news would be on the date he was found. Apparently, Cobain's death isn't currently on there (guess it was removed somewhere aling the line); I'll put it back in.--74.204.40.46 (talk) 05:22, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
"Births" eligibility
- I do not think there is any rule set for adding someone's name on "Births", as long as the information is correct and English article for the person exist.
- But Ttonyb1 removed the entry of Mayuko Fukuda three times because she is "Japan centric" person.
- Initial entry was done by 218.102.39.154, but Ttonyb1 reverted 218.102.39.154's entry. Then I re-reverted Ttonyb1's revert twice.
- Regarding Mayuko Fukuda, she has 5 non-English articles (Cantonese, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, and Thai).
- I checked all names which are currently listed, then each of following people has same or less number of non-English articles.
- (Each of them has English article, at least, so 0 indicates no non-English article created)

- I think majority of those should be removed if Fukuda is not allowed to stand.--Belle Equipe (talk) 07:04, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- A couple of things, first, I owe Belle an apology, I was under the incorrect impression the nine English articles in the deaths clause of Wikipedia:Recent years also specifically applied to births – my bad. Second, nice work on researching those people that do not fit the guideline. BTW - for the sake of accuracy, I "undid" the edit twice, not three times.
- The bigger issues is should births be included in the 9 article guidelines? I have started a discussion in Wikipedia talk:Recent years. ttonyb1 (talk) 14:28, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
January 25
January 25 – U.S. President Bill Clinton delivers his first State of the Union address, calling for health care reform, a ban on assault weapons, and welfare reform. 1994 was his second State of the Union, not his first. See: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/states/states.htm) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.178.223.102 (talk) 15:04, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- It's a nomenclature thing. Per State of the Union address, "Since 1989, in recognition that the responsibility of reporting the State of the Union formally belongs to the president who held office during the past year, newly inaugurated Presidents have not officially called their first speech before Congress a 'State of the Union' message." So while Clinton addressed Congress in early 1993, it wasn't a State of the Union address. —C.Fred (talk) 15:15, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Please change the section of June to include the Houston Rockets defeating the New York Knicks in game 7 of the NBA Finals on June 22. It was Houston's first NBA championship and the city's first professional sports title since the Houston Oilers won the AFL championship in 1961.
For sources: Oiler's win - http://www.remembertheafl.com/OilersFacts.html Rocket's win- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_NBA_Finals
There is precedent for this since the NY Rangers are already listed for winning the Stanley Cup title this year.
Thanks! Kris
Bagley.kris (talk) 01:40, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- Not doing; seeking second opinion. I'm leaving this unanswered to see if there's agreement with me, but the Rangers' Stanley Cup win is significant because of the long drought since their last title. The '93 Cup winner is not listed in the 1993 article, so not every champion is listed. I don't see the same degree of significance to the Rockets getting their first title. —C.Fred (talk) 03:36, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

In the deaths section, under August, please change "February 28 – David Wright, South African poet (b. 1920)" to "August 28 – David Wright, South African poet (b. 1920)".
