Suggestions
[edit]Is it necessary for practically the entire book to be written out in the section just before the Plot Synopsis section? I think that long wall of text should probably just consist of a short paragraph, to give the reader an idea what the trilogy is about, and then the Plot Synopsis can go into more detail. The format I would take would be something like this;
Plot Overview:
- Paragraph explaining what the book is about, establishing main character and setting (avoid major spoilers)
Plot Synopsis:
- Explain the plot in further detail (including spoilers)
The Five:
- Include list and explanations of the gods - Include list of the White, and the Voices - Describe Chaia/Sheyr and Huan/Hrun
I would also include a brief explanation of the Siyee and Elai.
Now, I haven't read the whole article as it is, so I'm sure that what a lot of what is currently there is fine, I would just suggest some re-arranging and editting. If no one has any objections to my suggestions, I would hope to do this myself, but I'm very busy, so if someone else wants to jump in and start, go for it =] 86.146.48.69 (talk) 16:45, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Trudi Canavan Voice of the Gods.jpg
[edit]Image:Trudi Canavan Voice of the Gods.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

plot summaries
[edit]Are these lot summaries or advertising blurbs? A plot summary should describe what happens in the work. concisely, but covering the end a well as the beginning. They're not teasers. They're not what authors put on the end flaps of the first one of a trilogy to encourage you to buy the next one out. I suggest a look to remove the existing ones as likely copyvio (though they might conceivably just be accurate imitations of the style) would be a first step, and actually writing a summary would be the second. I can't really help, as I havent read the books. and, as advertisements go, I can't say the present descriptions really encourage me to, either. DGG (talk) 04:16, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Format
[edit]Is there a reason for the table layout? It seems very unorthodox, and while I'm okay with some variation in design, I don't see the purpose for this rather advertisey layout that seems unsuited to Wikipedia. Anyone else have a different opinion?ChildofMidnight (talk) 00:26, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Creatures
[edit]I "merged" (cut and pasted) the content of the Creatures of Kyrilia article to this article. I leave the formatting and writing style issues up to those working on this article.ChildofMidnight (talk) 21:13, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- I can't imagine why creatures of Kyralia are important at all. After all, they are normal animals, just awesomer... But the main point, of course, is that this trilogy is not set in Kyralia. These animals live in the world of the Black Magician Trilogy. 77.4.57.128 (talk) 02:28, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- Reluctantly moved that section to Black Magician Trilogy where it will at least not be completely out of place, in the spirit of WP:PRESERVE. It would probably be best hosted in a Kyralia provided that one would actually demonstrate it has been noted and discussed outside the trilogy itself.MLauba (talk) 15:26, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Spoilers?
[edit]Does the summary for AotF really need to give away the entire plot of the trilogy? Almost at the very start, it reads:
"These five have split themselves into two identities each, and on the northern and southern ends of the island, they raise two super-powers. They then play these super powers against each other in large scale wars, in order to play a game that they have designed."
Anyone who hasn't read the final book will not know this. While I think that people should avoid researching a complete series until they have finished it, I believe it unnecessary to give away the trilogy's plot in the opening paragraph.

I agree it does ruin the whole plot of the book's big twist in the last few chapter —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.108.160.145 (talk) 17:39, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I just wanted to check to see what the names of the other books were. I didn't expect to have the books ruined for me. I haven't even finished the first one. 70.43.199.66 (talk) 14:45, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed with all the above, this is certainly not presented in line with our article guidelines for novels. I rearranged it so that it actually fits Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/ArticleTemplate. MLauba (talk) 15:19, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
