Requested move 19 August 2015

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved to Al-Mourabitoun (militant group). No consensus that the proposed title is the common name, though it will be created as a redirect. There is a consensus that "militant" should be preferred to "jihadist" as a dab, though. Jenks24 (talk) 15:57, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Mourabitoun (jihadist group)Al-Qaeda in West Africa – Per WP:NATURAL and WP:OFFICIAL.

The group has announced itself as 'Al-Qaeda in West Africa'. The new term can eliminate the current parenthetical disambiguation in the current title, while also serving as the groups new official title.

Sources that use 'Al-Qaeda in West Africa' include: the Associated Press [1], and the Long War Journal [2]. --Ritsaiph (talk) 15:41, 18 August 2015 (UTC) Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 18:21, 27 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Long War Journal [3]: "Al Murabitoon recently released a statement saying that Belmokhtar had been selected to serve as its emir. The statement’s authors added “Al Qaeda in West Africa” to Al Murabitoon’s name. But online operatives quickly clarified that it should have simply read “Al Murabitoon – Al Qaeda,” dropping the “West Africa” part while still emphasizing their connection to Zawahiri’s international insurgency and terrorist organization." Not the only "militant group" with this name

[edit]

Perhaps it would be better to mention the nationality in the title, to differentiate from Al-Mourabitoun of Lebanon, which was also a "militant group". FunkMonk (talk) 01:23, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of fictional flags to article

[edit]

‎Vif12vf, you restored the caption "The black flag of Jihad" to this article without explaining why in your edit summary. Is Jihad commonly capitalized in English language? There are multiple articles linked that show different "flags" that are "the black flag of Jihad". I want to believe the intentions were good here and we can resolve this.
