Picture added back. --Ebyabe talk - Repel All Boarders18:22, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Should we update his picture? This one seems a little old. --68.67.247.100 (talk) 11:06, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is getting a freely licensed picture to use. Keith D (talk) 11:33, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I added 2 pictures yesterday from Wikimedia Commons. One to the Infobox, the other to the Career section. I hope this helps. AlaskaMike (talk) 03:28, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This is a clear misuse of WP:FAIRUSE. WP:FUR should be used in the cases of impossibility of finding any free image. — Bill william comptonTalk 05:05, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
For clarification: We cannot use copyrighted images (such as a movie poster) when a free (not copyrighted) image can be found or created. In the case of a living person (such as Pettyfer), it is assumed that someone could take a photo of him. It may not be easy, but it is theoretically possible. The rare exception to this would be if the person were a complete recluse (think J. D. Salinger or Howard Hughes (when they were alive)). - SummerPhD (talk) 16:14, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Concerning about Alex Pettyfer's photo, I've searched through Flickr and have finally found a/an Attribution-NoDerivs 2.0 Generic (CC-BY-ND 2.0) tagged photo, but the photo was actually "taken" (as stated on the photo's flickr page) three years ago also its not like an event or something, looked like some talk/game show and the shot's not very good as well. For the link of the photo click here. Nicholance (talk) 17:11, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, a license that includes a "No Derivative Works" condition is not considered free. For more information, see commons:Commons:Licensing. – Wdchk (talk) 14:24, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Category

[edit]

Can this article be added to the category Category:Alex Rider? Stormbreaker is what he is most known for. Ollieinc (talk) 02:01, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We don't usually add a character category to an actor. Like David Tennant isn't under Doctor Who, or Dean Cain under Superman. I think in part b/c an actor could be under a potentially huge number of categories. --Ebyabe talk - Inspector General14:26, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Add alex pettyfer's picture please

[edit]

When i came on this page i did not see any picture of alex pettyfer. So i tried to insert a picture of him but cant figure out how to. So please add a picture and please choose a good one Shehrin (talk) 10:06, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you point to one with an appropriate licence? Keith D (talk) 12:09, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Birth date

[edit]

The claimed birth date was cited to an offline primary source, an England and Wales birth index. Wikipedia policy at WP:PRIMARY states that "sources that have been reputably published may be used in Wikipedia; but only with care, because it is easy to misuse them." This birth index was not published — it is neither online nor in any cited book with ISBN etc. — and something someone went to some county clerk's office to look up is original research and essentially unverifiable. I've substituted a WP:SECONDARY that at least verifies an approximate year. Note that Wikipedia disallows the wikia IMDb to be used as a biographical reference citation. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:05, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've found a date at the aggregator NNDB. I'll add that. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:07, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I must correct the comments on the non-publication of the index. The index is filmed and available in a number of public libraries in the UK. It is also available on some pay-per-view web sites. Keith D (talk) 21:11, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Well, adding a link to its page, albeit paywalled, on one of those websites would be good, with a (subscription required) tag. That way we'll have both that official source and a freely viewable aggregator.--Tenebrae (talk) 20:46, 24 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
