I'm guessing the date of birth is a typo since DNB says c. 1767, and he couldn't have joined the army at age 7.

He very well may have been; ensigns could be very young. I'm of the belief ODNB might be a typo, because his obituary says he was 77 when he died

You may want to clarify that the Glorious First of June was a naval battle for readers unfamiliar with the Napoleonic Wars

Very likely but the sources don't explicitly say

Suggest including St John's and Fraser's positions so that the level of Pilkington's seniority is clear

Their positions don't affect his seniority; he's still a normal captain/major no matter how exciting "his" general is

Is what else he did in the War of 1812 before 1814 known?

No; I assume he served as deputy adjutant-general

Suggest mentioning the Moose Island and Castine were in Maine in the lead, and in the body as well
