Taking on this review. Comments to follow. Kges1901 (talk) 22:13, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm guessing the date of birth is a typo since DNB says c. 1767, and he couldn't have joined the army at age 7.
  • He very well may have been; ensigns could be very young. I'm of the belief ODNB might be a typo, because his obituary says he was 77 when he died
  • You may want to clarify that the Glorious First of June was a naval battle for readers unfamiliar with the Napoleonic Wars
  • Done.
  • during which engagement he was wounded Not sure if 'engagement' is needed here
  • Removed.
  • Was Pilkington still a company commander between 1795 and 1799?
  • Very likely but the sources don't explicitly say
  • Suggest including St John's and Fraser's positions so that the level of Pilkington's seniority is clear
  • Their positions don't affect his seniority; he's still a normal captain/major no matter how exciting "his" general is
  • Is what else he did in the War of 1812 before 1814 known?
  • No; I assume he served as deputy adjutant-general
  • Suggest mentioning the Moose Island and Castine were in Maine in the lead, and in the body as well
  • Done.
  • Presumably after retirement he returned to his estate?
  • Presumably.
