[edit]

If Wikipedia is going to link to such "NPV" external links as Armando Montelongo's Twitter feed, then the editors should also consider providing a link to Armando Montelongo Worldwide Inc's Central Texas BBB page. The information contained in the BBB's page is a factual account of complaints reported to the Central Texas BBB, how many of those complaints have been resolved and that chapter's rating of the company. In all honesty, this page reads as a wikivertisement that is full of marketing references to Mr. Montelongo's company (is Mario Romancini's finish in Indianapolis 500 really relevant information regarding Mr. Montelongo?) and is only partially of any utility to anyone seeking information regarding Mr. Montelogo's life and history. In fact, it would appear as though Mr. Montelongo has turned Wikipedia into a marketing platform.

Not done: Or, the better solution: remove the links that shouldn't be there. We always provide a link to the person's official site, but we don't need the additional SNS links or fan links. However, the bbb link doesn't meet WP:EL either, so we can't include that. If you do have reliable sources about those complaints (newspaper articles, etc.) then that inf ocould be added. I'll check the rest of the article for advertisement problems. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:24, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding a news link, would a link to a report by Huntsville, Tennessee's WHNT 19 News qualify? Ironically, I did not include this link, though the web content links to the Central Texas' BBB chapter's page. There's also this clip from San Antonio, Texas' KSAT 12 News.

On the other hand, unless we are making the case that Mr. Montelongo is his business, then at least two paragraphs of the article appear superfluous (along with any references above) - the one recording his company's performance in the Inc. 500 list and other paragraph discussing his company's funding of a film. I, personally, would say the person and the business are actually separate entities but others may disagree. There's a paucity of verifiable sources regarding Mr. Montelongo's life (I suppose we could reference legal proceedings, at least for the biographical information) and while he is something of a celebrity, does he really meet the proscribed Notability criteria? Obviously, someone thought he was notable enough to warrant a Wikipedia article in the past but after reading through the Notability Guideline, I'm having trouble seeing that he meets the criteria as described. Might his somewhat scarce biographical information be merged with the Flip This House entry? TinkerTailorSoldier (talk) 20:55, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To me the entire article should be removed. ZipoBibrok5x10^8 (talk) 02:25, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If people don't think there's enough info about Montelongo as a person, nominate the article for deletion. Start by removing everything from the article that isn't about him, so that we can see what's left. Qwyrxian (talk) 04:25, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at it, that's probably not appropriate--pretty much, hosting a national television show almost always makes a person notable; that, combined with the Inc. 500 award is almost certainly enough to establish notability. Furthermore, looking at the article as it stands now, very little of it is about his business. It's not a great article, but it seems to meet minimum standards. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:42, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with TinkerTailorSoldier - some mention of consumer complaints should be included in the biography. Something along the lines of "The seminar business is not without controversy with D and F ratings from the Better Business Bureau of Austin, Texas and numerous complaints on the review website, RipOffReport.com." Do searches - look it up if you question this. 25 January 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.9.18.97 (talkcontribs) 23:00, 25 January 2012‎

Not done: Hi, 108.9.18.97. The {{edit semi-protected}} template is only used if you want a volunteer to add specific text for you. If you have a general suggestion, the best approach is to start a new discussion and see if one of the other editors agrees and is willing to do the detail work. Either way, it would be better to start a new section to avoid confusion with this older request. Thanks and regards, Celestra (talk) 23:25, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please change spouse to single or better yet delete the field all together. Armando quietly got divorced early 2012. Both him and his ex-wife have moved on. Veronica now owns a restaurant with her new boyfriend: http://www.tostbistro.com/index.html They both still co-parent their son Mondo.

Edit request on 15 January 2013: Divorced can be reliably verified through Bexar County Court Records search.

[edit]

Please change the SPOUSE field in this article designating Armando Montelongo as married to Veronica Montelongo to Marital Status: Divorced.[1] They are no longer married and this article could benefit greatly from a rewrite altogether. The information confirming Mr. Montelongo's marital status can be reliably sourced by performing an online records search on the Bexar County District Clerk official governmental website. The search can be performed at the following link:

https://apps.bexar.org/dklitsearch/search.aspx

The search can be conducted using either a name, business name, or cause number. After searching for Mr. Montelongo's name, several records are returned. Mr. Montelongo's records can be distinguised from his father's which use the "Sr" suffix. Mr. Montelongo's records will contain either the "Jr" suffix or the letter "J" as a middle initial. Here is the direct link to the record:

https://apps.bexar.org/dklitsearch/detail2.aspx?txtLitIsn=0003424460&PF=0

The record in particular which confirms the divorce is as follows for Veronica M Montelongo vs Armando J Montelongo:

Cause Number: 2003CI05525
Business/Last Name: ARMANDO J MONTELONGO
Litigant Type: PETITIONER
Style: ARMANDO J MONTELONGO
vs VERONICA M MONTELONGO
Court: 131
Date Filed: 04/10/2003
Docket Type: DIVORCE W/CHILDREN
Case Status: DISPOSED
Information as of: 01/15/2013 15:01:57 PM.

Upon further search, the same cause number is attached to records with Veronica Monique Montelongo listed as a "RESPONDENT" and Mr. Montelongo's biological son Armando Sebastian's name listed as "MINOR". The status of the case being DISPOSED indicates that the divorce has been finalized according to Texas law.

This information was copied and pasted directly from the official governmental website and should be considered a highly reliable source in accordance with Wikipedia's policies. Please assist in Wikipedia's efforts to maintain accuracy be removing this highly outdated but relevant portion of the article. MannyJ35 (talk) 21:45, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the request to include a direct link to the source of the information I have requested to be edited. Can you please explain why an easily accessible, available at no cost, public record published by an official government entity online does not qualify as a reliable source? I have read over the article describing what counts as a reliable source and cannot comprehend why an official legal record would not be sufficient to meet verifiability. [[MannyJ35 (talk) 05:50, 21 January 2013 (UTC)]][reply]

Done: I removed some unreferenced personal stuff from the article that needs a citation. -Nathan Johnson (talk) 15:07, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much Nathan. I am currently looking for more verifiable sources to rewrite this article all together, but there's not much out there besides his self-published books and collaterals. After reading the information on the verifiability page regarding self-published sources, I think I need to study the material a little more to determine if his autobiographical book "Flip and Grow Rich" adheres enough with Wikipedia editing policy to be used as a primary source. If so then it can be used to edit the article to read less like a promotional advertisement and more like an informative entry. We'll see what I can find. Again, I send you my gratitude for completing my edit request.

New request February 15

[edit]

From thenewspaperguy, Feb. 15, 2013 In the intro of the article, there is a reference to the building "formally owned by Berkshire Hathaway." The word "formally" is incorrect because it is defined as "in accordance with the rules of convention or etiquette." It should be changed to "formerly" (defined as "in the past.").

Thanks. Thenewspaperguy (talk) 03:37, 16 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article and reads like the fluffy bio you'd see on a book jacket. I see no mention of the lawsuit filed against him under the RICO Act. Or the hundreds of complaints that tanked his BBB rating to an F a few years ago. Was this written by Montelongo? 74.192.117.253 (talk) 01:15, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Coming back to this after a few years because there is now a reference regarding Montelongo's divorce.

I would like to suggest adding marriage and divorce dates or additional spouses referenced. Here is a reference article for citation. MySA Article

In addition, reading over the dialog from this talk history, it really does seem that this article needs significant re-edit for neutral tone. MannyJ35 (talk) 21:13, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
