Note on Carrie's Japanese Name

キャリー･ヴェルナンデス "Carrie Fernandez" is the proper translation of this name. Sypha's surname is exactly the same in Japanese. "Belnades" is a gross mistranslation of the original Japanese text: サイファ･ヴェルナンデス. See the American Harmony of Dissonance manual (Page 22) for confirmation; it properly translates the bloodline from which Juste inherits his magic as "Fernandez" not "Belnades." Castle Dracula

I don't believe the castle in any game is called "Castlevania" Rather it is generally either reffered to as Castle Dracula or just "Dracula's Castle." The name of the series Castlevania seems to be a compound word derived from the setting, That being a castle in Transylvania. Though the exactlocation of the castle would fall in modern day Romania, during the time period the bulk of these games take place Wallachia is still a province of Transylvania. The Country's name being so heavilly associated with classic horror, made it an ideal name to evoke a concept of a horror based game in the 1980's when the game was produced.

Carrie gets a mention in June 2006 issue of Nintendo Power

"Charlotte's family according to Iga, is somehow related to the Fernandez clan.(Carrie Fernandez was one of the protagonists in Castlevania for N64.)"
