Entitled
[edit]To whoever is maintaining this page: the word "entitled" does not mean "titled." They're not synonyms. All instances of "entitled" should be changed to "titled." Saying that a film is entitled makes absolutely no sense at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.196.162.105 (talk) 22:09, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]Am I the only person who saw the vulgar remarks about there 'not being another motherfucking movie' on the page? I removed it anyway. --67.162.31.148 (talk) 01:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

James Bulger
[edit]I think it's a little strange that there's no mention of the media hysteria surrounding these films as a result of the horrific murder of James Bulger in 1993. If anyone knows enough about the case it might be worth writing something about it, because it resulted in the film being banned in Britain for many years, if I'm not mistaken. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PCLM (talk • contribs) 17:03, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- You're not mistaken. The film "Childs Play 3" was banned throughout the UK because of the killing of Jamie Bulger (for some reason it's listed on here as James Bulger, but I clearly remember him being called "Jamie Bulger" during the whole thing)...and interestingly there's no mention of it on his page either. The movie was banned because the kids had apparently watched it and "got their ideas" from it despite there being nothing in the murder that happened in the film (except for death, of course). I also remember my mum renting it out for me to watch despite me being about 13 at the time :-) 78.86.230.62 (talk) 12:13, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Except it was NEVER banned in the UK, a lot of store's refused to stock it after stories in the tabloids linking it to the murder, and Blockbuster went as far as to burn every copy they had in stock. CIC video, decided to withdraw the film from circulation along with Child's Play 2, and cancelled it's proposed sell-through release. It remained unavailable until they re-issued it in 2002. Remake
[edit]Unsourced Child's Play (film series)#Remake sections keep appearing and disappearing, most recently ... When I run a web search on this I only get rumors and nothing from a reliable source. The IMDB page says "Announced" and "Scripting". Does anyone have any decent citations for the remake?
I have the redirects Child's Play (2009) and Child's Play (Remake) nominated over at WP:Redirects for discussion/Log/2009 October 11#Child's Play (2009) and would like to see the former deleted as that date is invalid. I don't care so much about the latter, and nominated it before the section's reappearance figuring that the redirect could be recreated once the film is reliably announced. -- ToET 09:27, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- All I can find are stories about a remake "in the works" from October 2007 and August 2008, the later based on this AICN interview. -- ToET 09:53, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- I believe Brad Douriff was under the impression that a remake was planned,[1] as are Mancini and Kirschner.[2] But I don't know that that translates as "remake definitely being made". --Dominic Hardstaff (talk) 09:54, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Cool. The best I could work out based on the sources was along the lines of:
- In an August 2008 interview, Don Mancini and David Kirschner spoke of a planned reboot of the franchise to be written and directed by Mancini, stating that the fans "want to see a scary Chucky movie again. They want to go back to the straightforward horror rather than the horror comedy." They indicated that Brad Dourif would return as Chucky and that they hoped for a 2010 release.[1]
- but that is rather tenuous. -- ToET 10:22, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Cool. The best I could work out based on the sources was along the lines of:
- Ah, I wish I'd read this before adding a new version of the section.[3] Feel free to rework what I've written. --Dominic Hardstaff (talk) 10:33, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- I merged the AICN material in with that from your two sources. Thanks for the help. -- ToET 12:56, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
And the section was just removed again, so I restored it with a summary comment to see here. While I would defer to those from WP:FILM & WP:HORROR, what is there now seems sufficiently notable, is certainly sourced, and in definitely better than the unsourced versions that kept popping up. -- ToET 23:29, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- I've pointed the removing editor to this thread. --Dominic Hardstaff (talk) 10:23, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Jabrona posted at my talk page instead:
I deleted that section because the project has been scrapped according to Brad Dourif, and he said that they were doing something else. --Jabrona (talk) 016:16, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Do you remember where you heard/read this? --Dominic Hardstaff (talk) 16:20, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Which doesn't leave me any wiser. --Dominic Hardstaff (talk) 16:39, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- If we can get a citation for this, it would probably be worth keeping a short section mentioning the plans and their abandonment (at the very least until edits announcing the film's imminent release cease.) -- ToET 00:58, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

2017 Video Game
[edit]This article says TikGames is announcing a video game in 2017. Uh, what?!
I don't see a source for it anywhere on the article's page so I guess it's not true. JuggaloDan2013 (talk) 01:43, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
Curse of Chucky
[edit]There is already enough information regarding the film, so I was wondering, why hasn't Curse of Chucky have it's own page yet? The film is going to be released in six months, other films that's been announced like (Finding Dory) has its own page and that film won't be released till 2015! So I think it's time for Curse of Chucky to have its own page, we already know the cast, the plot, and other stuff and plus there is already a teaser poster since the film was announced! Can someone please make a Curse of Chucky page finally? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.114.22.101 (talk) 08:15, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
Don Mancini, producer of Curse of Chucky?
[edit]Don Mancini is listed as a producer of Curse of Chucky along with David Kirschner (and he is credited as such in imdb as well), but his name does not appear in the credits of the film as such. Do we need a reference for this? Rcarter555 (talk) 09:13, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
"Psychological Horror Elements"
[edit]There's currently a line in the second paragraph about the original appearing to have "psychological horror elements". I don't have a citation for it, but I think what the mean is how (spoilers) the first half of the movie tries to give you the impression that Andy is the killer, even though we already know that the doll is possessed. It does, in my opinion, a decently effective job of making you doubt the doll as the killer. HylianDev (talk) 14:23, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

Child's Play (franchise) → Child's Play (film series) – Non film elements not sufficient enough for this to qualify as a bona fide multimedia franchise, this is just a film series with spin-off media. --woodensuperman 13:31, 19 March 2018 (UTC)--Relisting. —usernamekiran(talk) 17:50, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- Support (franchise) implies a franchise In ictu oculi (talk) 16:06, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:NCFILM#Media franchise. "Spin-off media" would be things that relate directly to a film, such as a prequel comic, but this franchise includes media and appearances outside of the film series continuity, such as the short films, the video game, the live stage shows at Universal, and the comic books. This is almost textbook what we use (franchise) for. -- Netoholic @ 05:27, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- That's a bad guideline, an example of WP:Local consensus in guideline writing In ictu oculi (talk) 18:52, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose fundamentally per reasoning of Netoholic. Also, @Netoholic:, not sure why this isn't featured in the article yet, but the storyline of the main film series is set to conclude with an 8-part, hourlong television miniseries actually titled simply Child's Play, with Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Jennifer Tilly, Summer H. Howell and Christine Elise reprising their roles, and Glen/Glenda appearing.[4] Also, the considered Freddy Krueger crossover is called Child's Play on Elm Street, not Chucky on Elm Street, that needs to be corrected. The Chucky cameo in Ready Player One with Dourif reprising his role needs to be mentioned, as does the potential of an Anabelle crossover (well-sourced) Thank you.[5] 86.46.199.94 (talk) 17:59, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, there's no indication that the television series would be a conclusion (in fact, your reference states just the opposite), nor is there any indication Glen/Glenda will appear. Also, and I realize there's references so there's no way to really get rid of these things, but all of these potential "crossovers" is just Don Mancini joking. If you read the quotes or see him in interviews, it's obvious that he's just having a laugh.Rcarter555 (talk) 21:03, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
