Real term?

[edit]

Is this a real term pertaining to viruses or is it from that awful Tess Gerritsen novel? Sloverlord 21:51, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a real term this article needs some sort of disambiguation header because of the Chimera virus from Mission Impossible II (last time I checked it was in "List of fictional diseases"). Having a "Chimera (virus)" article might confuse some people. RWyn 20:12, 17 October 2006 (UTC) 21:12 17 October 2006[reply]

Proposal for deletion

[edit]

I've cleaned up the article, found and cited the original notice to which the text refers, and added a section on the Chimera virus as it appears in Mission: Impossible II to avoid any confusion among readers or editors. Nevertheless, it looks like this article isn't notable in any way and has nothing vital that ought to be integrated into other articles on vaccines or viruses. If anyone has more information or a reason why the article ought not be deleted, please either edit or provide a reason here and remove the tag from the article.

I've added a Warning of proposal of deletion to User Talk:DoLittleDoc. Tiresias BC 11:47, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Correction?

It states "in reality Ebola has caused a number of small outbreaks but no large epidemic." So what would you call what is happening right now in West Africa?

This is a real thing and is probably related to this technique in biotechnology. I can look into it more and see if it seems worth keeping. juanTamad (talk) 01:22, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

To add to article

[edit]

To add to this article: mention of the term "recombinant virus." Some articles seem to mention this term in combination with, or as a substitute for the term "chimeric virus," so explanation in this article is warranted. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 04:07, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
