[edit]As it stands right now, this article is purely plot summary, which is a violation of WP:PLOT. As such, it is actually eligible for deletion. However, I don't want to nominate it for deletion just yet. Perhaps somebody could expand this article (and, also, clean it up)? Maybe this article could use information about how the character was developed, what the character's impact was, etc. If someone is able to expand this article to the point that it is more than just plot summary, then we'll have something nice. Otherwise, it's got to go. --Hnsampat 15:58, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:CrocDundee.jpg
[edit]Image:CrocDundee.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:41, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Michael "Crocodile" Dundee → Mick Dundee – Current title violates WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NICKNAME. Known as "Mick Dundee" or "Crocodile Dundee" in secondary sources and in the films themselves. Crocodile Dundee (character) is also a possibility, but the proposed title avoids the parenthetical and is IMO the better choice. 162 etc. (talk) 19:12, 9 September 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. — DaxServer (t·m·e·c) 20:26, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

- Either Oppose the name change or change to Crocodile Dundee (character), that's a title. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:30, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

- Oppose, "Micheal" should not be in the title at all, it should be Crocodile Dundee (character). MarkiPoli (talk) 10:46, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- I support Crocodile Dundee (character) as an alternative page title. Killuminator (talk) 17:29, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
Merge with Crocodile Dundee (film series)
[edit]The film series is entirely about the character. The character only appears in the film series. The content of the two articles overlaps a lot. Isaac Rabinovitch (talk) 04:03, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose, the character is iconic enough, within and outside of the film series and in Australian history and heritage, to merit and keep its own page. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:32, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- Tell me something about the character that belongs in this article and doesn't belong in the article about the film series. Isaac Rabinovitch (talk) 19:01, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. There is much information here that doesn't really belong in the film series. In a way, I would say the character is actually more iconic than the film series. MarkiPoli (talk) 10:49, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- What information doesn't belong in the film series? Isaac Rabinovitch (talk) 11:24, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose, through the role of the character as an Australian icon independently well beyond the scope of advertising the film series. The section Crocodile Dundee (character)#Status as an Australian icon already alludes to this; the role as a tourism campaigns has persisted well into the 21st century.
