Honour Killing
[edit]I just watched it on DVD (I am in China), and the plot line about the honor killing of the sister by the younger Baraheri brother is fully intact. It is specifically stated that he killed his sister and her lover because she brought shame on the family for sleeping with a married man. Was this plot line omission only for the USA ? Was it reversed ? Did it ever exist ? Because it doesn't exist now.
It's only a rumor that the honor killing plotline was ever changed. All the filmmakers did was remove the dialogue related to "honor" and "family honor." Otherwise nothing else was changed, which led to Sean Penn demanding to be cut out of the film (even though he committed to the original honor killing version). Filmed in 2007 ?
[edit]The IMDB states that the movie was filmed in May 2007. Why has it sat on the shelf for 2 years ?
It (often) takes up to a year to edit a film and preview it - sometimes longer. Weinstein pushed the release date by another six months. The film only finished production at the end of July 2007. This happens all the time - but Crossing Over was beset with post production conflicts. The director, Wayne Kramer, was not happy with Harvey Weinstein reediting his cut of the film (supposedly removing over 20 minutes of footage) and, at Sean Penn's request, Harvey Weinstein cut out a framing device sequence that featured Sean Penn and Alice Braga. This necessitated a reshoot of the ending. Ned Racine (talk) 00:30, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
