Fernandez Warrior

[edit]

"...the enemy known in the U.S. version as "Carrie's Cousin," described as a recent castle invader, is actually meant to be Sypha herself, resurrected by Actrise in a further attempt at mind games."

This is taken off this page, [1]. Is there any truth in this? If so, this definately needs to be mentioned on this and Sypha's article. Buzda 05:10, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is only correct in part. I've been drafting a Fernandez Warrior article in which I explain that misconception. (I didn't know it was stated as fact on this page.) Here is a part of what I wrote:
"The Fernandez Warrior was originally conceived as Sypha Belnades herself. The designers ultimately scrapped this idea before the game's release, simply making her a Fernandez descendant."
Here's the scan and translation of this info: [2] A lot of the other info on this page (all that Eastfield junk) isn't canon either. It's true Eastfield was her intended name, but that was changed as well. Correcting this article just hasn't been a priority. But I suppose the fact that it is so misinformed may warrant a quick revision. Guermantes 06:18, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Check out this out: [3]. I guess the Fernandez Warrior does have an official name, Camilla Fernandez! Buzda 02:02, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes... I do have a problem with it, though:

  1. She's never referred to by that name in any other source that I've seen. In Japanese her name is "Fernandez Soldier." (Not even in the PAL version.)
  2. The name is shared by another character in the series. (Which vexed me something fierce!)
  3. The translation on the official European site is shoddy in general. (Misspellings, bizarre plot problems, they call Dracula's servant/Gilles de Rais "Vampire Gildre.")

And the real kicker: Camilla Fernandez cannot be Carrie's step mother. Carrie's step mother wasn't a Fernandez, her biological mother was, and thus she couldn't have magic powers. Plus, Carrie saw her step mother die trying to save her.

I guess these alternate names should be noted, though, if European gamers really do think of them as "Gildre" and "Camilla." I need to get ahold of the PAL roms... =( Guermantes 02:50, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hehe, glad I verified first :D Buzda 03:54, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Relation to Carrie

[edit]

The Fernandez warrior's relationship with Carrie is unclear, and has not really been clarified by Konami. She is called her cousin and stepmother in official sources, although the former seems unlikely as Actrise implies it took a great length of time for the curse to take hold. (Note that Rosa is still able to resist the curse even though she's been watering those roses or quite a bit of time.) The idea that she's her stepmother is logically impossible, as Carrie's step mother was not a Fernandez (her true mother was). Some fan sites list her as Carrie's true mother; this is impossible because Carrie's back-story describes how she saw her mother killed by a mob. It's most likely that Actrise simply uses the word "cousin" to mean "relative." Guermantes 01:37, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
