iPhone 7

[edit]

Should the title be iPhone 7?

Thanks JLOPO (talk) 20:37, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to be configured the same as the other iPhone pages from what I can tell? Unless you mean the URL having it as 'IPhone,' which also appears to be the standard used in the other articles. HMS Werewolf (talk) 02:04, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is Mirror.co.uk reliable source? Because this link shows that the headphone jack is ditched and only wired headphones that fit into Lightning Port jack will fit or using wireless headphones. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 03:40, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

iPhone 7 and iPhone 6 comparison image

[edit]

I am requesting an image of and iPhone 7 and an iPhone 6 with comparisions of the missing headphone jack. That is to further reinforce the missing headphone jack stuffs. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 03:48, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Good temporarily. for now. If you do happen to have an iPhone 6 and 7, then please can you take a photo of the two? Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 20:30, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I change my mind and still like that comparison image with SVG. I would just request one of the iPhone 6 and 7 comparisons of jack stuffs for the Commons stuffs. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 23:30, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline of Models

[edit]

Maybe I'm crazy but shouldn't the timeline of all models only appear in the main iPhone article? This is an article about the iPhone 7, there is no reason to have information about the release date of the iPhone 4/4S/etc in this article. That kinda thing either belongs on iPhone or something like iPhone model comparison. EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 14:59, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Mike Peel: EoRdE6(Come Talk to Me!) 02:04, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, sorry, I didn't notice this before I added it back. I'm inclined to agree: I added it back as it was in all of the other iPhone articles, and it makes sense to keep things uniform. So if it's removed from here, it should probably also be removed from the other articles about individual iPhones. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 10:33, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replace "ion particle bath" with "iron particle bath."

(The 'design' video shown at the launch event clearly shows magnetized iron particles changing shape as a magnetic field is applied. Then the iPhone 7 chassis are moved through the particles to polish their surfaces. It is likely that "iron" was heard as "ion.")

Face-Color

[edit]

The article does not mention face-color. I went to the Apple-Site and it does not mention face-color either, but it has a picture with the stupid white face.* When we have written confirmation, we should add that the phone comes in white and black faces.

  • So many morons insist white faces that phone-makers offer them, despite increasing glare. Given that idiots also have no esthetic sense, I suppose that I should look forward to deplorable people with jet-black phones with white faces. ¡Even the 6th Doctor would find that ugly! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.102.233.65 (talk) 17:35, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First Weekend Sales

[edit]

Apple has declined to post first weekend pre-order sales for the iPhone 7 because sales are determined by supply and not demand thus making the pre-order sales irrelevant for shareholders. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IApplereviews (talkcontribs) 00:50, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The double camera thing

[edit]

I do miss the image of the double camera thing. But I do realise that there was no copyright statements on the double camera image. So I was just wondering how to make an image of an iPhone 7 with iPhone 6 of camera comparisons without risk of it being deleted by lack of copyright statements? Huge changes

[edit]

Should it be said that the iPhone 7 has more changes than any other iPhone or is that considered opinion. 2602:306:32DF:1EC0:5910:EFA8:894:84E1 (talk) 19:27, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it's opinion, then. There's no full redesign or major display upgrade but it seems like a larger change in every other way than the 4. 2602:306:32DF:1EC0:5910:EFA8:894:84E1 (talk) 21:38, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't personally feel that this belongs in the article as it's a prank, however, if reliable sources back it up at the very least I think we should put it in a different section? -- Dane2007 talk 22:32, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A prank, even if covered by reliable sources, doesn't fit into the encyclopedic purpose of Wikipedia, in my opinion. Same thing with rumors. Those are covered by the media, but aren't suitable here. LocalNet (talk) 02:34, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree. The iOS 7 and 8 articles mentioned the AirDrop and Wave hoaxes. Plus it could briefly be mentioned as an example of gullibility in the reception section. ViperSnake151  Talk  22:52, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm. I question the value of the information about hoaxes in articles, but if reliable sources write about it, at least that follows Wikipedia's source requirements. I don't really understand why rumors covered by reliable sources aren't allowed but hoaxes are, but that's not the current discussion, anyway. LocalNet (talk) 09:26, 5 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Camera

[edit]

This article makes the false claim that the iPhone 7 is behind the S7 in terms of camera. The only advantages the S7 have are in autofocus and low-light. The iPhone 7 camera is far ahead in every other way. 97.103.155.112 (talk) 23:19, 5 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Any source where the articles go through an editorial process can be considered reliable. I don't think there is a list, but most major news sources are reliable. LocalNet (talk) 16:55, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
https://www.cnet.com/special-reports/cameras-compared-iphone-7-plus-vs-galaxy-s7-vs-iphone-6s-plus/#7-vs-6S or do you need a source that specifically says that the iPhone is better. I created a user Charlie pepin (talk) 20:05, 12 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again. Nice article, but yes, Wikipedia needs a source that specifically states that the iPhone's camera is better in order to write that. At the current time, this page states information from Forbes at the start of the Reception section, and Forbes does point out that iPhone 7 camera is not the best. Should also note that even if there is a source stating the opposite, we wouldn't remove Forbes' info, it would just add a sentence about the disagreement. ¿Does the phone have the useless muteswitch?

[edit]

iPhones originally used a switch for muting the ringtone. The iPhone started using software for controlling the ringaudio, but kept the physical switch. Not only was these redundant, but experienced users would forget that the switch exists and many new users do not know that the switch exists. These switches often get accidentally flipped. The result is that AppleStores and AT&TStores would get endless walking of people with "Broken" iPhones which do not ring anymore. This raises a question:

¿Does the iPhone 7 have this useless switch which gets flipped accidentally, leading to missed calls and people believing that their phones are broken? or ¿did Apple take advantage of the redesign for removing the headphone jack for saving money to remove the hated switch?

The article should mention whether or not Apple removed the thing people actually want to remove. If someone knows, we should add that to the article — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.102.233.65 (talk) 12:03, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of headphone jack —— ¡Go big or go home!

[edit]

Apple made users mad by removing the headjackport for saving money, thus angering millions of users by reducing utility. If Apple would have removed all of the ports and the silentswtch and used inductive charging, BlueTooth for backing, and BlueTooth up to computers, that would be bold, and people would laud Apple for making a technological leap. Instead, Apple did it half-arsed and removed 1 port thus, inconveniencing users, but one still must charge and backup over USB. We should mention that people are upset over the inconvenience and half measure, instead of going all in with a portliness phone using induction for charging and BlueTooth for backing up and headphones. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.102.233.65 (talk) 12:18, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

So many release dates and countries; need diagram?

[edit]

Since there are so many release dates and countries of the iPhone 7, do you reckon it would be necessary to make a which-country-released-at-what-time diagram? And there are also so, so many countries that I cannot read them all and memorise with my short-term memory loss. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 08:06, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so. The list is there to help users see when the phone launches in their country, based on information from sources. It's important to mention, but doesn't need a lot of focus in the article. I don't really see why you would want to memorize them. You don't need to, we have the list :) LocalNet (talk) 08:09, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

foxconn and Pegatron as contract Manufacturers?

[edit]
Manufacturer	Foxconn (on contract)

Can we use http://www.cnbc.com/2016/11/18/apple-is-exploring-moving-iphone-production-to-the-us-report.html as ref for second manufacturer in the template? Source says ""Apple asked both Foxconn and Pegatron, the two iPhone assemblers, in June to look into making iPhones in the U.S.," the Nikkei Asian Review reported, citing a source." `a5b (talk) 03:52, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I Googled to make sure other sources covered the manufacturing partners as well, and found this article from AppleInsider. Given that it's an Apple-focused website, I thought it would have a little more track record, but your source is also good. I will add Pegatron and add this source to both Foxconn and Pegatron. Thanks for the info! LocalNet (talk) 09:55, 23 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Brazil Philippines

[edit]

Hi @KamranMackey: Thank you for your edits! I understand your concern about the foreign sources used for the release dates of the iPhone 7 in Brazil and Philippines. However, as far as I know, there are no guidelines restricting the use of foreign-language sources for information. Furthermore, as you said you discovered, the Philippines source is English by default, and if you use the Google Chrome web browser with Google Translate webpage translation enabled, you can easily see that it translate the Brazil source to state November 11. I'd argue that it's quite easy to tell even without Google Translate, as "11 de novembro" isn't *that* far-fetched from November 11. :) LocalNet (talk) 23:30, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Under 6.2 Sales: Reports about trimmed production

The quotation from Nikkei as it now goes: ...but that the new models still suffer from "more sluggishly [sales] than expected" is awkward. The source would be better quoted if you said: ...but that the new models had "sold more sluggishly than expected".

Orphaned references in IPhone 7

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of IPhone 7's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Apple official website: specifications":
