Isn't an incendiary a device meant to SET such a fire, rather than the fire itself?

Incendiary is an adjective that describes the type of fire or that decribes the purpose of the device, in the case of things like Thermite.--catseyes 02:50, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, Raz is right. According to the dictionary, incendiary means "designed to cause fires". Michael Z. 2007-09-16 15:42 Z

Can someone please add a section linking the {{for the 2007 film of the same name}}, and including the relevant syntax, as I keep making a hash of it. -mike

I tidied it up a bit, but was confused as to what year it should be labelled as. Perhaps someone could just check if it should be classified as a 2008 or 2007 film? Raz.you.up 23:27, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Making a disambiguation page

[edit]

This article is just a dictionary definition, and an incorrect one at that. See wikt:incendiary for that.

My dictionary has the primary definition "(of a substance or device, esp. a bomb) designed to cause fires", plus two metaphorical uses. As a noun it is a bomb, an arsonist, or a person who stirs up strife. These are each already covered by other articles, so I'll convert this into a disambiguation page. Michael Z. 2007-09-16 15:46 Z

I think this page should redirect to Incendiary device and have a separate disambuiguation page. "Incendiary" is a very common contraction of "incendiary bomb" (or bullet, or shell), which is far more notable than the other uses listed. Cyclopaedic (talk) 09:57, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
