Clean up
[edit]This article has been around for more than 3 years, and has been a bit of BLP mess for most of it. However, it turns out that there were good sources for most of the negative comments, so I cleaned it up a bit, and tried to add a bit of balance. If the references are anything close to accurate, this individual is a true heavy hitter on the Japanese music scene, and probably deserves significant expansion from what I have here. GA nomination
[edit]I've put this up for GA. I do understand that it's on the short side, but I really feel that I've exhausted the available sourcing on this. I've been unable to locate any free images of Kitagawa, although the article certainly could use them. I'll try to think of some image that has at least a passing relationship to the article that can be incorporated. Beyond that, I read Japanese badly so I could have missed something, but it's amazing how little personal information about Kitagawa is in the Japanese press (at least the parts that are reliable sources). He really does seem to be able to move behind the scenes. I'll keep looking for sources that expand this further, especially the non-sexual harassment parts. I've copyedited the article per your request at the Copyeditors' Guild but have a question regarding the section titled "the formula". Can you provide reliable sources that refer to his style in this way? While there's a pretty standard formula for boy bands that most people are familiar with, labeling his particular strategy a formula (young boys etc) should be sourced. - Thanks for the quick response on the copy edit request, I really appreciate it. I have a cite for the generic Johnnies reference, so I'll remove the citation needed tag for that. With respect to "the formula" sourcing, I'll have to think about it; I had considered it a noncontroversial bit of info. I'm pretty sure I can source it to the Campion article, but I've used that one so much I've been trying to spread it around a bit. Failing that, I'll simply rename the section. - Found a reference for the proposition, at the time I'm posting this it's reference 7. Thanks again for the help. Xymmax So let it be written So let it be done 14:32, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Current status
[edit]The last information seems to refer to 2007. Given that Johnny would seem to be still alive but aged 90 years, it would be good if someone who reads Japanese could find out what his current role is within his agency, and whether he is still active. Ishel99 (talk) 14:50, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
Embedded module in the infobox
[edit]Greetings and felicitations. The "Infobox musical artist" template embedded in the article's infobox is not currently displayed, and I don't know how to fix that. :-/ — DocWatson42 (talk) 06:21, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Allegations
[edit]This article states the abuse allegations go as far back as 1965: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/takeshi-kitano-sex-abuse-scandal-johnnys-japan-1235500522/ Nakonana (talk) 20:53, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
No image?
[edit]As Kitagawa is deceased, I believe we're allowed to put on a WP:NONFREE image in the infobox. Is there a reason otherwise we don't have an image? seefooddiet (talk) 02:26, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
