Kurmi is a well educated caste found in the region of awadh east up and Bihar.

After rajput and Brahmins the largest landholder in the regions are kurmis

Even though the education was on top due to some of the political reasons they are put into OBC. Hiiiii thereee (talk) 20:05, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Kurmis are those Kshatriya who participated in agriculture as well as in war when needed. They are just like Thakur and Rajputs. That's why they are elite class instead of non-elite. They were put into OBC category due to their financial conditions just like EWS category in general category. And Kurmis are not in OBC category in every states, for example in Gujarat." " Remove tiller caste from agriculture caste because kurmi is a landowners not a tiller"[1] Rk12121y (talk) 20:27, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The provided article does not explicitly state that the Kurmi are not tillers, instead stating that their status varies based on region. Additionally, uncited information provided in a daily newspaper is well outweighed by the multiple academic sources used that assert the Kurmi are landowners.
