Redirect and merge

[edit]

After a discussion by editors of the Slipknot project it was decided that the articles for previous band members should be redirected and merged in to this article on the grounds of notability and verification. You can read the discussion at the project discussion page. Please do not recreate separate articles for the previous members article as requested. REZTER TALK ø 19:07, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre

[edit]

Why does it say "rap metal" here but not on the actual Slipknot article? 208.114.168.170 (talk) 18:45, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Its not a type of music Slipknot does. DarkRide666 (Talk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.67.122.159 (talk) 19:14, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting

[edit]

What happened to the timeline section? It doesn't display right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.16.180.5 (talk) 10:30, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed, good catch. Thanks! blackngold29 14:49, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Colsefni

[edit]

Not Colsefini. He and I discussed this. That's how the 'copy' of Crowz on ebay was marked as total fake easily - by the misspelling of his name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.107.172.33 (talk) 00:59, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Corey Taylor description

[edit]

I think someone's vandalised the article, albeit in a minor way, some time ago, and this mistake has been overlooked. Whoever originally wrote the little description, or if someone remembers what it said or could have said, you might wanna check it: "Taylor struggled to accomplish. The initial idea was to ..." lol. Good eye bro, fixed. REZTER TALK ø 18:46, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Band Members

[edit]

Well I Have noticed that you have been erasing my edits on the member Quan Nong, John Green, and Patrick Neowhirth. Well he is know on Slipknot-Metal.com. Please go there, and give me permissiom to write them down. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.67.122.5 (talk) 15:56, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

These guys were never members of Slipknot, a band which was formed in 1995. They were members of pre-SK related bands, and that is the reason they are featured on the fan site you posted. Andre666 (talk) 16:33, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No you dont understand, go to slipknot-metal.com and type slipknot ex members of slipknot. Then click on it. Go to the very bottom and look at the names. I just went there and looked at another one. Brandon Darner. Please dude, just go there. The band formed in 1989. 1995 was known for the release of Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.67.122.5 (talk) 17:38, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please go. I really think you should. So do I Need proof. Brandon Darner was a relplacement for Greg Welts. Cause Welts left in 1998 during the demo. But for the singals wait and bleed and spit it out he was a percussionist and later replaced by chris. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.67.122.5 (talk) 17:42, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You dont believe me, go to wikipedia, type newirth, and youll see patrick m. newirth, its going to say the original guitarist from slipknot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.67.122.5 (talk) 01:05, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Guys! a new band member joined! His name is Will Haven! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.67.122.5 (talk) 20:21, 4 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The guy is right, look at Slipknot-Metal.com at ex members. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.249.206.76 (talk) 02:45, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That isn't an official fucking site. This article needs to be protected. Andre666 (talk) 09:56, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Dude just go to the website, even Wikipedia knows these were band members before. DarkRide666 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:47, 16 July 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Just to clear things up on this issue. Per Wikipedia policy, there are several boxes that information must tick before it can acceptably be used in Wikipedia. Granted anybody can edit Wikipedia, but the guidelines are there to settle disagreements and conflict over content. First of all, the information needs to notable (see WP:N) and best way of ensuring the information is notable is by proving it's true (see WP:V). To prove that it's true, we cite the information to reliable sources (see WP:RS). So basically you need to back up any claim that can be contested with reliable, published sources. Fan sites such as Slipknot-metal.com, Opiumofthepeople.net, MFKR1.com and several more are not reliable sources. They can be interesting to read but they are not consider a credible source and the accuracy of their information is questionable.

I personally have been involved in a lot of work mainly focused on Slipknot articles and I have never found any mention of any other band members in reliable sources. If I did, I would gladly put that information in the article. I'm not saying they were never part of Slipknot in some small way, I'm saying that without reliable sources we can not include the information in Wikipedia because people can argue it's not true. --REZTER TALK ø 09:32, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Joey Jordison

[edit]

Forgive my anger, but can we PLEASE settle this Joey Jordison nonsense?! It was announced on THE BAND'S OFFICIAL WEBSITE that Jordison had departed, and it is all over every music news website. The confusion is coming when he said he "didn't quit"; yes, that's fine, but it doesn't mean he's still in the band! The most recent editor as of writing this comment had the cheek to refer to it as a "rumoured departure". WHAT?! It's not "rumoured" if it's announced on their god-damn official website!! Can we move him back to former members and leave him there, please? Andre666 (talk) 19:52, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hiatisus in the Timeline

[edit]

Using other bands that have gone on hiatus as a guideline (i.e. Alice in Chaines, System of a Down), I think the band's many hiatuses should be represented as gaps in the timeline. Can somebody help me put together the dates that need to be removed.

Actually, I don't think a hiatus is comparable to a break-up/reformation (see Megadeth for an example of that), so I personally don't believe there should be gaps there, but that seems to be the status quo. Has this been discussed before? If not, maybe we can start the discussion and have those gaps refilled in the other bands. Crispy385 (talk) 23:37, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kun Nong

[edit]

I see that there is a user named TypeONegative warring to include Kun Nong but getting shot down for lacking a good source. Kun was named in a 2001 biography of the band by Joel McIver called "Slipknot Unmasked". Would that be sufficient? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crispy385 (talkcontribs) 03:16, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding guitars

[edit]

Both Jim and Mick play lead and rhythm, stop making it so Jim is only rhythm and Mick is only lead, thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by ICommandeth (talkcontribs) 01:16, 13 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
