[edit]The brackets in the title should be removed, because there aren't any in the other "by population" lists in Wikipedia.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.151.123.137 (talk) 14:50, 8 September 2006 (UTC) They are, aren't they? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.190.166.233 (talk) 02:02, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Major rewrite
[edit]I've completely revamped this list, patterned after List of United States cities by population. It is very important that subsequent alterations to this list strictly adhere to the population estimates issued by the Census Bureau and ignore local sources. This is the only way to ensure the list remains neutral.
I have added in a few 'skyline' pictures to help flesh out the void on the right side of the table, but we need more. I would think the top 15 should do the trick, but we are missing a lot of them. I'm going to try and hit up the Valley cities myself, but may need some help digging up pics of other cities.
That's all, hope you all find the change constructive. Shereth 23:52, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- Dropping in a few more photos, I think that putting in the county seats might be worthwhile as well. Not that anyone else seems to be listening :) Shereth 22:02, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
2010 Census
[edit]Hi, Click to 2010 U.S. Census Bureau FactFinder2. You can edit and change list of cities in Arizona. Thank you! Ross Degenstein --24.111.34.170 (talk) 23:00, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Troublesome math?
[edit]From first section of article: "2010 census put 6,392,017 [!] of the state's 6,392,017 [!] residents within these cities and towns, accounting for 24.59% [!] of the population." Something seems to be wrong... 153.110.203.226 (talk) 13:22, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Split Article?
[edit]Would anyone be opposed to splitting the second table into List of census-designated places in Arizona as has been done with other states? The simple reason is that the title of this article is cities and towns, and should ideally list just the cities and towns. An alternative is to rename the page List of cities, towns and census-designated places in Arizona but that is rather cumbersome and unusual. Giving the CDP's their own list has already been done with most other state lists of cities. Mattximus (talk) 01:04, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- I also have same kind concern, this is a list for cities and towns in Arizone, which means they must been incorporated, but CDP apparently not, is shouldn't be here, or else it should change the whole definition at lead section.--Jarodalien (talk) 07:48, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
at least 1,500 residents to be a town?
[edit]Notes sections has this: "When communities incorporate in Arizona, they must have at least 1,500 residents to be a town and at least 3,000 to be a city. But the state makes no differences between the powers and taxing authorities of cities and towns."
However, the article also states Tusayan was incorporated in 2010 but has only under 600 residents. Something is not right about this matter. 212.50.203.198 (talk) 05:55, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- Good catch. "In 2003, new legislation was passed allowing any community of 500 or more to incorporate if located in proximity to a national park or monument"... I'll try to find the reference for this and add it as a note. Mattximus (talk) 14:41, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

2020 Census
[edit]I edited populations based on the 2020 Census and updated some of the material, but the new data.census.gov is difficult for me to navigate and I was not ultimately able to locate a table with all the population data; instead, I searched for each township by hand (ugh). If someone can find such a table, it would be best to list that as the source for the 2020 populations in the table. Zeldahime (talk) 22:55, 5 October 2021 (UTC)
- I've been looking for this too! Here is a list which I've been working from (scroll down) but it's not a very official site [1]. Mattximus (talk) 21:01, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
