National Animals
[edit]I've never heard of the red fox being suggested as a national animal of the united kingdom! I have heard of the idea of 'british bulldog' - but red fox? Cheers Fishiehelper2 (talk) 16:25, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Nor me - consider it deleted.GordyB (talk) 16:17, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
There is no reference given for the bulldog or the lion as national animals of the UK. The bulldog has been used as a symbol of the UK (e.g. in political cartoons) for approximately 100 years but that is very different from being a national animal, and especially not one that has been officially designated as such (as the criteria on [of national animals|this page] suggests.) I suggest that unless any actual evidence for the UK having national animals can be provided, they should be deleted, and I strongly feel that the bulldog in particular should be deleted since it has no official place at all (unlike the lion which does at least appear in the royal coats of arms). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.69.52.21 (talk) 15:46, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
The URL for the lion being the national animal of England is unreliable. There should be a more reliable source noted if it is a national animal if not then England should have a way of showing that it is not official.Captain.Magimal (talk) 12:57, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
