Lijsttrekker
[edit]Does anyone know a suitable english word for this specific dutch political term of lijsttrekker? I went with "political leader" for now.
- Don't know about an English one, but here's the Russian one (steam locomotive): https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Паровоз_(выборы) --YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII (talk) 14:38, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Civil servant
[edit]I do not grasp the current occupation "Civil Servant" in the column at the right. A member of parliament is not a civil servant, but a representative. A State Secretary is a political executive office. Before becoming State Secretary Mark Rutte had various positions in Human Resources at Unilever. By any stretch of the concept of Civil Servant, Mark Rutte has never been a civil servant in his professional life. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.101.98.231 (talk) 00:50, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Living with his mom
[edit]Funny, but not true.
According to the telegraaf van 3 June, which had an interview with Rutte.
"Geruchten Wel maakt hij graag gebruik van de gelegenheid om een paar hardnekkige geruchten te ontzenuwen. Nee, hij woont niet meer bij zijn moeder – „al niet meer sinds m’n 21e” – maar alleen in een appartement. Ja, hij gaat wel eens in de week bij haar eten – „Lachen man!”. En nee, ze doet zijn was niet."
Translation:
"Rumours He uses [the interview] gladly to deny a few persistent strong . No, he does not live with his mother - "not since I was 21" - but alone in an apartment. Yes, he goes to eat with her every week - "Thats a blast!" And no she does not do his laundry"

Personal life
[edit]How about a reference to the fact that he is single (I wonder how many prime ministers have been single) and that there's even a television show on BNN searching for his mate (Ja Ik Will... Rutte) 62.21.140.122 (talk) 19:05, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- Iceland's, before marriage in office. India's previously, and probably a host more.(Lihaas (talk) 05:36, 16 October 2010 (UTC)).
- Dude, you've noticed he has been prime minister for eight days now? That's just about one week... 77.251.46.60 (talk) 16:16, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
He could be Gay or Bisexual, although Holland has moved way ahead of the rest when it comes to issues of Homosexuality and freedoms in general, it would still be bit awkward for a church going individual to come out in the open, especially if he is also an PM, doesn't help either to be a leader of the conservative block. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.25.210.150 (talk) 07:09, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- This is a talkpage, 2.25.210.150. Not a forum to speculate about someone's sexual orientation.—♦♦ AMBER(ЯʘCK) 13:11, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- Besides, his sexual orientation is irrelevant as the Dutch constitution does not require any sexual orientation test to hold the office of prime minister.161.24.19.112 (talk) 17:08, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
- Right! Article 1 of Dutch constitution is very clear about it. Very short: All Dutch are equal. Klaas `Z4␟` V 09:39, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Resignation?
[edit]I see that Rutte offered his resignation but was it accepted? Even after the Dutch election it appears that he will remain in office since I haven't found any news sources that state that he will step down soon. If this is the case, maybe we should rephrase or add that after this resignation sentence? Maybe something along the lines of Rutte offered his resignation as a result of the child welfare scandal, but after his party's success in the 2021 election his government will remain. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 17:27, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
The farmers v the Climate con
[edit]Should the brave farmers, who are currently bringing the Netherlands to a standstill in opposition to Rutte's deranged ambition to reach "Net Zero", be mentioned in this article? 195.27.18.67 (talk) 06:47, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
Political leader
[edit]@Marius1603, the thing is, is that party leader or political leader is never really an official position (afaik). So the minute someone says they are not the political leader anymore (or when the media say he no longer is), that means they are no longer the political leader.. Dajasj (talk) 12:32, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Dajasj I understand that, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they leave office right away until a successor has been elected, unless it’s stated that the resignation comes with immediate effect. Marius1603 (talk) 13:45, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- But there is no "office", nor is there really a resignation. It is now vacant and VVD will propose a lijsttrekker this week. Dajasj (talk) 13:52, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
Post-nominal AC
[edit]A user who makes a habit of adding post-nominals added them here before the article was protected. Rutte is not closely associated with Australia and MOS:POSTNOM applies. 2601:642:4600:3F80:A070:5547:5D9F:E357 (talk) 19:57, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
