Brian Laudrup
[edit]I removed the line that stated that Brian Laudrup had never "made it" in a "top" league due to the fact that this is an opinion, not a fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.105.237.205 (talk) 19:35, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Exactly. He made it in the Bundesliga (which was usually much higher rated back then than in more recent years) and in the world`s foremost football league, Italy`s Serie A. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.168.208.12 (talk) 20:56, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
When Brian Laudrup played for them, Ajax Amsterdam and Bayern Munich were still international top teams. Ajax had won the Champions League in 1995 and finished runners-up in 1996. As regards Bayern, they had reached the CL (ECC)-semifinal eight times between 1981 and 1991 and finished runners-up in 1982 and 1987. By today`s standards, only the Serie A could be considered a "top league" back then. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.168.251.184 (talk) 11:04, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
European Supercup ???
[edit]Michael Laudrup never won any European Supercup with Juventus! Juventus (winner of the 1984 Cups Winners' Cup) won the 1984 Supercup against Liverpool (winner of the 1984 European Cup) in an one-leg match played in Turin in February 1985 (2-0). Juventus should have been playing 1985 Supercup against Everton that never were able to play such match due to the 5-year ban inflicted by UEFA to English clubs after Heysel disaster. Quotes on Laudrup
[edit]I suggest this section be deleted as of WP:NOTCRYSTAL. If cited though they should be merged into the rest of the sections. Cheers Sergiogr (talk) 20:00, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- I agree but Wikipedia:Verifiability seems a more relevant policy. WP:NOTCRYSTAL is about anticipated events (like speculation about his next job). The alleged quotes were added by 80.164.38.247 on April 5. I have asked 80.164.38.247 for sources. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:35, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
"A playmaking midfielder"
[edit]Laudrup started as a 2nd striker/winger. Even as late as 1988`s European Nations` Cup, he was listed as Denmark`s 2nd striker next to Preben Elkjaer-Larsen. See his position in Barcelona`s 1st "Dream Team".
"Laudrup-Jensen"
[edit]The source given does not justify changing the name from Michael Laudrup to Laudrup-Jensen. The premise of the book "Laudrup - Et familie dynasti" is to write it from a more danish perspective, one of the means it achieves this is by pointing out that Michael Laudrups dad were once known as Laudrup-Jensen (Jensen being the most common danish surname) however in paragraphs following this, the book acknowledges and states that the family dropped the "-Jensen" part. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.58.162.109 (talk) 22:52, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Personal life?
[edit]The section about entitled “Personal life” says very little about it and focuses mainly on his style of play. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.163.229.21 (talk) 06:26, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Error
[edit]"He made his senior debut for east hull rangers in 1981, and made his debut for the Danish under-19 national team in February 1981."
East hull rangers? can someone verify this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.214.165.225 (talk) 06:28, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
That article says he's the creator but provides a source in which I don't even see his name. Anyone? Galant Khan (talk) 12:47, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
Euro 92
[edit]The language for the below piece of text seems quite subjective and reflecting the author's opinion rather than fact/a neutral POV:
"the Danes failed to qualify originally but were given Yugoslavia's place as they were kicked out due to war in their country. Laudrup however rated their chances so low he stayed on holiday, a decision he must have regretted as Denmark beat holders Holland on penalties in the semi-finals with legendary keeper Peter Schmeichel surprisingly saving a Marco van Basten penalty in the shoot-out. In the final against world champions and red hot favourites Germany the Danes stunned the world with a 2–0 win thanks to goals from John Jensen and Kim Vilfort making it probably the biggest surprise in a European Championship final."
Also as Michael Laudrup did not play in these matches do they need so much detail? Dunarc (talk) 19:51, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
