Pointe Claire
[edit]Found Pointe claire, moved it to Pointe Claire, then found this article. Brought all the content over here. --N5UWY/9 - plaws 23:26, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
Acres
[edit]You can't measure width or depth in acres: acres are a unit of area, not of length. Is acre here a mistranslation of arpent? Arpents can be either length or area. Indefatigable 19:16, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- No matter: someone killed it. I wonder if it's an archaic usage of the word? --plaws (talk) 21:31, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

- From collectionscanada.gc.ca Gordon & Gotch's 1924 Map of the Island of Montreal. . Pointe Claire is named on this map.
- "Fort de la Pointe Claire". ville.montreal.qc.ca Map dated 1744.
- Henry Whitmer Hopkins made several maps, dated 1879, of the island of Montreal. On the "Island of Montreal" and "Parishes of Bizard Ste Ann Ste Genevieve and Pointe Claire" maps, the Pointe Claire area appears large relative to the size of the island of Montreal. The lower half of the West Island is named "Pointe Claire", with a second smaller area inside also named "Pointe Claire":

Fire of May 22, 1900
[edit]I would like to include the fire of May 22, 1900 . Out of (about) the 60 existing buildings in the town, 24 burned down in this fire. This is a significant event I believe.--Mark v1.0 (talk) 20:24, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
