"For systems in environments that need to meet and maintain compliance requirements,[7] remote administration software must have strict security control. Software like Netop Remote Control 10 is able to exceed the toughest security standards including PCI DSS, ISO 27001, FIPS and HIPAA."

That paragraph is seriously just a straight advertisement. Punkonjunk (talk) 21:08, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

administrative programs

[edit]

Sub seven and netbus are NOT trojans, they are administrative programs that are used to do administrative tasks and of course hacking, so I took it off. User:warrush

Page is a joke

[edit]

this page is a joke. "Hack credit card numbers"... this is patent nonsense. Someone must have watched The Net and decided to write an article. This should be deleted if it can't be cleaned up, 'cause it's disseminating misinformation. 76.238.131.168 (talk) 03:36, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To the contrary, gathering credit card numbers is entirely possible with a RAT. Automated RATs are used in large numbers in malware, spam, etc. botnets; these botnets need new commands periodically, etc. This information should probably be integrated into the article. However I do agree that it is a pretty poor article, a complete rewrite may be needed.--Pokeme444 22:32, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

If this article is not deleted (it looks fishy to me), the title needs to be downcased. Per WP:MOSCAPS ("Wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization") and WP:TITLE, this is a generic, common term, not a propriety or commercial term, so the article title should be downcased. In addition, WP:MOSCAPS says that a compound item should not be upper-cased just because it is abbreviated with caps. Lowercase will match the formatting of related article titles. Pnm's suggestion looks good to me. Tony (talk) 08:15, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Software like Netop Remote Control 10 is able to exceed the toughest security standards including PCI DSS, ISO 27001, FIPS and HIPAA."

That sounds too like an advertisement for a specific product. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.29.43.2 (talk) 19:22, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ESEA Client

[edit]

Removed ESEA League anti cheat client from "Notable RAT software and Trojans" as it was without citation and I could not find a relevant citation Delta1ne (talk) 01:25, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

sorry I don't know much about editing wikipedia articles so I'm asking someone to fix the link of iControl which I know it redirects to wrong page. thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Omerjawhar (talkcontribs) 02:22, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

this article is way too focussed on security

[edit]

Not all remote administration tools are evil. VNC or Teamviewer are legal products, often also used in attacks. But the tools in themselves are not bad. RDP is even delivered directly with the OS.

Also needs a section about definitions in use today.

  • remote access toool
  • remote administration tool
  • remote access trojan
  • remote administration trojan (not seen used, yet)

Blanked-and-redirected Creepware to here

This seemed like a pretty noncontroversial move. There wasn't enough valid content in the other article to be merged with this one. — Katie <3 (talk) 23:01, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
