Requested Move

[edit]

I suggest that this article should be moved/retitled to "San'in Main Line" for three two reasons:

  • 1) The line is arguably named after the region, which has a Wikipedia that is titled the San'in Region. The article name of the line and region should match.
  • 2) I recently rode the majority of the line and found most guide signs wrote the name with the apostrophe. So the line's article name should match how it is actually written in practice.
  • 3) Because it's technically correct romaji to add the apostrophe. San'in and Sanin are different words in Japanese. (San'in = さんいん; Sanin = さにん).

Thoughts? If nobody disagrees I will rename the article in a week, as well as change the link in any linked articles myself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Manmaru (talkcontribs) 01:02, 24 April 2008

I cannot believe the second point. Wasn't it a hyphen (i.e. "San-in Line")? JR usually uses a hyphen (and does not use an apostrophe) in places where an apostrophe would be needed under the Hepburn romanization. Anyway, in Wikipedia:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles), I do not find any reason to oppose the proposal. Support. --Sushiya (talk) 13:47, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes you are probably right it was a dash and not apostrophe, I guess I just remembered that there was definitely something in between the "San" and "in". Sorry about that. Manmaru (talk) 16:08, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
