US Army Corps of Engineers

[edit]

The US Army Corps of Engineers has significant expertise concerning sand boils, as they can be a mechanism contributing to levee failure during floods. This article used to contain a link to a June 2006 document (news story?) about sand boils on the USACE web site. Unfortunately, the pre-2008 archives do not seem to have survived a (primarily cosmetic) reorganization of their web site in Jan 2009. [Your tax dollars at work? Does this kind of (false) economy really make sense?] Someone may want to browse other USACE resources about sand boils that are still available on the web site and create a new external link. Merge with Sand volcano article

[edit]

I suggest the two articles are merged (in terms of content, which isn't much) since they contain the same subject just differing terminology. I don't know how to do this however :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.154.138.18 (talk) 03:24, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree too. Let it be done. When I have time I will merge the two articles. Gug01 (talk) 20:49, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree, if nobody minds, I will start working on it. Paul H. (talk) 22:34, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

 Done

So, the "sand volcano" article has been merged into the "sand boil" article and "sand volcano" now redirects to "sand boil". This seems to me to be a case of "the tail wagging the dog". A Google search indicates to me that the more common term is "sand volcano" (62,000 versus 12,000 hits). I suggest a better merger would be to revert the current merger then put the "sand boil" text into the "sand volcano" article, and redirect "sand boil" to "sand volcano".
