Bias

This page is incredibly biased towards television. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.205.168.206 (talkcontribs) 02:20, April 16, 2006 (UTC)

Isn't TVLand about television though? Metamorphousthe 06:30, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Oh, come on! Knock off the "bias" crap! What else is the article supposed to be about? I think too many Wikipedians are a little too concerned about "bias", and "POV". So much that they overcritique perfectly well-written articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chabba77 (talkcontribs) 01:25, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

addition of Emergency!

I added Emergency! to the list of past shows. I know that it was roughly the same time as Dragnet, but I am not certain as to the exact dates. --rogerd 00:54, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Source of programming info

I see that there has been added information about the dates when shows aired or will air. I don't see this info on tvland.com . What is the source of this data? --rogerd 02:32, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Thats exactly what Im wondering. If no source is provided by Nov. 22, 2006 it will be removed. H.J. Bellamy 02:28, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

My best guess is that some editor probably either kept track of this stuff an added this along the way or through some Web site they came across. Anyway, out of curiousity I went back through the article history and saw some of the shows that were alleged to be premiering at some future date. My goodness, they had shows on there that were to begin in 2028! That's 22 years from now, for crying out loud. Many things in broadcasting will change between now and then, including (I'm sure) the status of any contracts that may have been made between the networks and production companies of these shows. As such, I think it was right for H.J. Bellamy to delete the unverified material. Sorry for coming in late to this argument. Briguy52748 21:53, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
I am sure that the future crap was just that - crap, but some of the info about current and past shows was probably valid. However, we need a source to be verifiable. --rogerd 23:29, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

A note about the show list that was in the article

It shouldn't return ever. This is an article for the TV channel: not a list of every program on the channel. The same thing should apply to all other TV channel articles. RobJ1981 20:39, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

I agree that the full show list should never return to this article. That said, it may be necessary (and a necessary evil at that) to include some shows, to give the reader unfamiliar with the TV channel context as to what programs one might expect on TV Land — that is, older shows that have been in reruns for a number of years. The second graf of the current version of this article is exactly what I'm speaking about. If readers are interested in the complete current schedule, then a link to the TV Land official site might be appropriate. But as far as a TV guide, I agree that this isn't really the place for it (perhaps TVIV.org) Briguy52748 18:02, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup

Wow, this page could really use some cleanup. Looks like a lot of the crap was taken off the past couple weeks but the writing style is unencyclopedic and it's missing some interesting topics (namely, the shift from broadcasting shows mainly from the 50s and 60s to mostly airing shows from the 70s and 80s). 71.231.3.11 04:56, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

List of TV Land shows

Someone should create that page. (hint hint) --66.218.12.173 03:39, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Will TV Land acquire I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, and Laverne & Shirley to return March 3, 2008, The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour to return March 8, 2008, and Charlie's Angels to return June 2, 2008? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.69.68.105 (talk) 04:09, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Someone can consider Hawaii Five-0 to TV Land in this fall starring Jack Lord. Can you guess what drama and crime is this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.7.72.78 (talk) 03:00, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Network Chimes

TV Land plays a three-tone chime as a sort of branding trademark, which I'm certain is a stylization of a signal that was ubiquitous in television's past. I'm not an expert, but I believe the older tone was an automated signal that networks used for cuing local stations to insert their content, such as local ads. The tones were automatically recognized by local station equipment. I can't find any information on Wikipedia or elsewhere online, most likely because I don't know the precise term to search for. Can anyone help out? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.3.70.220 (talk) 11:01, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

More info: the old chimes were called in-band signaling for local insertion. 69.3.70.220 17:18, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Name Origin

The origin of the name "TV Land" may come from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, in which Bullwinkle often introduced his "Bullwinkle's Corner" segments with the greeting, "Hello out there in TV Land!" Occasionally a soundbite of Bullwinkle's phrase will be used in TV Land promotions. I don't have proof that this is the name's origin, however. Should this information be included in the article? 72.244.207.209 19:15, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

I think it predates Rocky and Bullwinkle. I've heard the phrase "Hello out there in TV Land" on the Honeymooners.Smiloid (talk) 21:07, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Bullwinkle was referencing The Honeymooners. A Honeymooners clip of the phrase was used on the channel's debut: [1]. 72.244.206.31 (talk) 15:38, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
It's definitely on I Love Lucy, too. Le fantome de l'opera (talk) 03:54, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

TV Land warez topsite

According to this Dutch article, TV Land is also a warez topsite, that was apparently taken off-line by Brein. --82.171.70.54 (talk) 19:02, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Infomercials

Does anyone have information about why infomercials have been added to TV Land's Web site? If so, and provided a verifiable source can be found, should such information be included in the article? Briguy52748 (talk) 16:31, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Incorrect

The Muppet SHow,Zoey 101 and Zombilee Zoo are not on TV Land if you can provide a source I'll except it but if you cant then the shows will be removed Zoey 101 airs on The N not TV LAND Matthew Cantrell (talk) 19:01, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

It look like the TVland wikipedia need to go back to protected again. since it been Vandalizing again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LMckin (talkcontribs) 00:30, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Who is removing shows like Adam-12? Hate to break it to you but it was aired on TVLand, stop vandalizing this entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leo Ames (talkcontribs) 05:53, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

I rewrote the section on the TV Land Awards as the previous material was simply copied from what appeared to be a press release and thus likely a copy-write violation. It may be worthwhile to have a separate article for the TV Land Awards since it is in it's forth year. --Cab88 07:45, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

I have always enjoyed the old shows on TV Land, Bonanza, The Andy Griffith Show, etc, but I and a lot of my friends and family, are appalled with the show you are now airing, "Teachers." This show is so vile and vulgar and is teaching children to be promiscuous and have no morals at all. The show could be a comedy without all the sexual innuendoes. Please, please have the writers to take out the garbage.

Added show to show list

I added the TV show "Macgyver" to the show list.

It seems the list is still missing some shows from it so I'll try to add more.

---wait! i see on the list of past shows they listed "Alice" as having been shown this year. it's never been on TV LAND! the problem with a place like wikipedia: everyone has their own revisionist history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.152.180.29 (talk) 16:29, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Future Shows

Is the future shows list legitimate? It goes so far into the future. 67.188.172.165 17:20, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Personally I think it's not completely legit. Think about it. If they bring back Drake and Josh, they'd surely have to bring back Kenan and Kel. FireSpike Editor Review! 02:45, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

how can you even predict what's going to be on TV LAND in 2028? it's only almost 2007. plus, if they're marketing TV LAND as being a place for "classic television", why would you even think they'd consider airing reruns of original programs aimed towards "tweens" like "Drake and Josh" and "Zoey 101"? that's what Nogg-N's for! and to list shows like "Living Single" and a less-than-one-season wonder like "Jesse" (which has like, 13 episodes) as being part of the schedule before they've even been considered for Nick at Nite is ridiculous. if this person wanted it to be more believable, they should have listed sure-fire shows like "The Golden Girls" or "Roseanne"... (great, i probably just gave him a suggestion to mess it up in the future). plus, they already show "what's happenin' now", intermixed with the reruns of "what's happenin'?", so why wait 10 years for a show that's already on the air? i'm deleting it today. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.152.180.29 (talk) 16:21, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on TV Land. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add cbignore after the link to keep me from modifying it.
