"Daya is an orphan who grows up learning that a police's life is a happy one with lots of money coming in the form of bribes which inspires him to become a police officer. After years, he becomes a corrupt, cunning, manipulative and ruthless sub inspector of police. He is transferred to Vishakhapatnam where he forms an immediate friendship with the local don Waltair Vasu by releasing his four brothers Ravi, Mani, Varun and Sundeep from the jail who were arrested for smuggling. Daya's attitude does not go well with his subordinate Narayana Murthy, a sincere police constable. He tries to oppose Daya's deeds which go vain.

Meanwhile Daya meets a pet cross member Shanvi and falls in love with her at first sight. With the help of two chain snatchers, Daya manages to steal her pet dogs which are very precious for her. Daya later manages to pose those chain snatchers as police constables and adds that they had to fight with Korean smugglers to retrieve those dogs. He also foils her marriage with a flutist named Vennela Kishore by arresting him at a brothel house adding that he is an ardent dog lover and an exact opposite of Kishore which makes Shanvi fall for him. On her birthday, Vasu's men kidnap her and Daya rescues her in time. Vasu then scolds his henchmen for kidnapping the wrong person and apologises to both of them.

As her birthday gift, Shanvi asks Daya to save that girl's life who was supposed to be kidnapped and killed by Vasu. Obliging the same, Daya saves that girl named Lakshmi and opposes Vasu. They later reconcile and Daya comes to know that Lakshmi has a proof of Vasu's brothers' atrocities which if exposed can kill them. Daya meets Lakshmi and comes to know that Deepthi was her sister who was kidnapped, raped, and brutally assaulted to death by Vasu's four brothers for 40 days and the same was recorded by them. That was stored in a CD which is with Lakshmi now. Daya takes the CD and sends Lakshmi and her mother to United States.

Before leaving, Lakshmi's conversation with him bring a change in his mindset and turns an honest officer after a chain of events with Murthy notifying the change in him. Daya credits Shanvi for bringing the change in him and reveals the truth to her after which she forgives him. After Deepthi's dead body is found and postmortemed by a female doctor, Daya produces the CD as the evidence which turns out to be an empty one. Though no further evidence exists, Daya asks a gap of one day to provide necessary evidence so that Vasu's brothers should not escape as exonerated. He regrets for not making multiple copies of the CD in a conversation with Shanvi and later, Vasu's men attack Daya when he is alone.

He reaches the court next day and adds that he is also one among the 'five' men who sexually assaulted Deepthi and convinces the judge to put five of them to death so that those four shall not escape death. In the last minute, Lakshmi reveals Murthy that she has an extra copy and the same is aired in the media. Daya's death sentence gets cancelled while the remaining four die in the jail, three in the hands of Daya and the remaining one after being hanged. Daya is reinstated into service and he reconciles with Shanvi and Murthy in the end."

Hi, I should have this to you by tomorrow JAGUAR  18:01, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Two quick questions: is there any source that describes this film as an action thriller? If not, I think the genre can simply be action. And the poster, is that the final/most common one? Kailash29792 (talk) 08:33, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Kailash29792: The first has been altered to "action film" as its director quotes the same in an interview. And, about the poster, it is the last theatrical release poster and also, i find no need to use a poster featuring Daya (NTR) as a police or with a gun or a police jeep, as the character never takes its profession seriously till the pre climax. Then too, it wears the uniform for only one sequence in the end, for seconds literally. Thus, i felt that i could use a poster featuring both the leads when available. Initial comments

[edit]
  • "by leveraging his capacity as a police and an influential smuggler" - doesn't make sense here, how about as a officer or official?
Rephrased. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:51, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "and an honest constable Murthy in the transition of Daya to a sincere police officer" - again this sounds a bit unclear, is Murthy helping Daya in any way or is he helping him become a sincere police officer?
The latter. Rephrased. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:51, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • The release dates should typically be in the first paragraph of the lead and not the last, however the lead does not mention anything about what critics thought of it, so if you could expand the last paragraph (by writing more about its reception) then I think this should be OK
Well, i believed the release and reception should be in the same, last paragraph after observing many other GA and FA articles. Even its flow from the second paragraph adheres with the article's structure — the concept, production (other than casting which is mentioned in the first mandatorily), release and reception. I've added about its reception in the lead and it should be okay now. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:51, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "They later reconcile and Daya comes to know that Lakshmi has a proof" - no need for "a"
Removed. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:51, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "That was stored in a CD which is with Lakshmi now" - on a CD
Rephrased. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:51, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Few stills of the film were leaked online on November 26" - A few still images or "screenshots" might sound more like it? Also, the date format in this sentence is inconsistent with the rest of the article
Rephrased. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:51, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "In mid-May 2014, The film's shooting schedules were planned in July 2014" - capital letter here. Also is there any reason why the shooting was pushed back to August?
No idea why it happened. May be a delay in Pre production? I don't know sadly. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:51, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "because of disruption in construction of a big police station set because of rains" - would sound better as because of disruption in construction of a large police station set due to rainfall
Done. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 10:51, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • The Music section would benefit from either being expanded slightly or merged, seeing as the Temper (soundtrack) article is quite large you could shift content from there?
Expanded slightly. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:02, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "screening rights of the film in entire Europe except United Kingdom" - I would lose entire and reword it to "the United Kingdom". It's mentioned again in the next sentence
Removed entire. Altered the next sentence and i believe it should be okay now. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:02, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • "other parts of North India and International markets" - international doesn't need to be capitalised
Done. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:02, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Minor, but I noticed some spelling inconsistencies throughout the article (some sections use American English while the rest uses Indian/British English), it won't affact the GA criteria but I can use a script to correct it if you like?
Please do it. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 11:02, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

On hold

[edit]

This is a thoroughly researched article and is comprehensive which is a good factor for this becoming GA. I noticed a few prose issues that could be addressed without any problems and also the lead could be better organised/summarised. I'll put this on hold until all of the above can be addressed, but please ask me if you have any questions! JAGUAR  10:33, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Close - promoted

[edit]

Thank you for the quick improvements, I'm confident that the article now meets the GA criteria thanks for the changes made. The prose is now generally much cleaner and references all check out. Well done! JAGUAR  12:57, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good article reassessment for Temper (film)

[edit]

Temper (film) has been nominated for a good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status may be removed from the article. We are the Great (talk) 19:58, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@We are the Great: what are your specific concerns that lead you to believe the article no longer meets the Good Article criteria? The instructions at WP:GAR ask you to discuss them here at the talk page before opening a reassessment. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 20:21, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for trying to open a reassessment article, but I thought that doing that would be much more reasonable to me. Glad that I got clarity and I hope to not repeat this again. Anyways, I believe this article should be delisted since a chunk of the citations in this article are from The Times of India, IndiaGlitz and International Business Times, with some citations of 123Telugu, Oneindia.com (later renamed to FilmiBeat), and Bollywood Life. IndiaGlitz, 123Telugu, Oneindia, and Bollywood Life are unreliable per WP:ICTFSOURCES and International Business Times is unreliable per WP:IBTIMES. TOI’s reliability is under question. In the meantime, I’d like to hear comments from ICTF regulars @Ab207, @Sid95Q, @Flylindfotberserk, @Kailash29792 and others not listed as participants, @DareshMohan:, @RangersRus:,@Benison:, @Geniac:, @CNMall41:, @DreamRimmer:, @Ravensfire:, @Arjayay:, and @Atlantic306:. We are the Great (talk) 20:33, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just to clarify: I do not oppose a GAR; just wanted to know the reasons and previous discussions, if any. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 21:24, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What discussions, specifically? We are the Great (talk) 21:51, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
About improving the article or addressing specific concerns before taking it to GAR. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 22:00, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Rotideypoc41352 Are you talking about this talk page or the article itself? If so, there haven't been any discussions regarding this in the talk page itself. However, I can provide you with the discussions of the reliability of the sources, unless if you know about the discussion regarding TOI's reliability. We are the Great (talk) 02:34, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. In any case, let's give folks some time to respond. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 21:23, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The lack of response after a week seems to imply no opposition to a GAR, no contesting of We are the Great (WatG)'s description of the issues, and no interest in improving the article. Until WatG opens the GAR, I've added {{GAR request}} to the top of this talk per Wikipedia:Good article reassessment#Articles needing possible reassessment. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 07:12, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I do see some edits being made to the page recently to remove some of the unreliable sourcing. I would recommend giving it some time to see if the cleanup can address the concerns. Once there is a stable version then a GAR could be done. --CNMall41 (talk) 18:03, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GA Reassessment

This article contains many uncited sentences, included entire paragraphs, failing GA criterion 2b). Some of the sources may also not be reliable. @We are the Great, Rotideypoc41352, and CNMall41: pinging those who previously commented on the talk page. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 19:24, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Thank you for inviting me. I initially started the reassessment because a large chunk of sources cited such as IndiaGlitz, 123Telugu, Oneindia.com, and International Business Times, were unreliable per WP:ICTFSOURCES. The Times of India’s reliability is under question, but that’s for another day. RangersRus, after taking my suggestions, removed all the citations that were unreliable. Benison did opine that the article’s GA status could survive if we found more reliable sources, but this has not happened yet. Additionally, many Tollywood movie articles on Wikipedia rated GA have sources that are unreliable per WP:ICTFSOURCES, which I have removed in some of them such as Srimanthudu, 1: Nenokkadine, and Attarintiki Daredi. These articles mostly use International Business Times as citations for Box Office sections, which is deemed unreliable per WP:IBTIMES. I believe most of them were rated GA at the time when the reliability of these sources I mentioned were not challenged. We are the Great (talk) 19:44, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If the {{cn}} situations are handled either by being deleted or replaced with better refs, this article can retain GA status. Does Veera Narayana have time or interest? I have neither. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:24, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t think anyone would have the time to do this since I have not seen much activity on this article ever since RangersRus removed the unreliable sources. We are the Great (talk) 14:15, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let's wait and see whether others join in the discussion. Otherwise, if nobody does, then the article could be delisted. We are the Great (talk) 22:29, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello all, i was the contributor for this and many other Telugu film GA articles in the past. We are the Great here was right in assuming that i worked on these GAs when the abovementioned sites' reliability was not challenged. And i am thankful that Kailash took the time to respond to this when i was away, and i must admit he echoes my sentiments too. If you think this article, or any other GA/FA/FL i have ever contributed towards, does not meet up the criteria anymore, please delist them. You dont have to reach out to me for this, and i assume this message here would stand valid for all of those. After all, despite all the hours i passionately put into these articles, i own nothing and i am mature enough to understand the gravity of the situation. Thanks for intimating me. Hope you all have a happy holiday season. Cheers! Veera Narayana 06:49, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
