This paragraph makes many assuptions about the reader's previous knowledge of the story. Most of the sentences make no sense or make associations without merit (particularly the one that discusses Hogarth having a gun and his dad believing him about the robot). In my opinion, this article needs a complete rewrite.

I agree. I haven't read the book though. 24.154.173.50 16:45, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the summary on the basis that it made very little sense. It's a fairly mediocre article, remaining a stub for over a year and 25 edits - perhaps it should be merged with the Ted Hughes page? ~ Eidako 13:52, 8 August 2006 (UTC) Retracted. ~ Eidako 09:33, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Iron man book.jpg

[edit]

Image:Iron man book.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Glaring Omission

[edit]

Why is there no mention of Black Sabbath's awesome song "Iron Man" of which this novel was the inspiration for?

I AM IRON MAN!

C'mon. It's Sabbath! Jack Meihoffer (talk) 03:18, 8 June 2008 (UTC) Image description[reply]

Editions

[edit]

The U.S. Library of Congress Online Catalog includes records for five editions with five different illustrators.[1]

I expect that that URL expires with my session. Keyword search 'iron man ted hughes' hits eight records including one for The Iron Woman (sequel, 1994 US ed?); one for a Pete Townsend musical adaptation (audio, 1989); one for a biography of John Lee Hooker who starred in the Townsend adaptation.

ISFDB has catalogued only later printings of the first UK and the 1985 edition. In all it names 4 different cover artists and shows 7 different cover images.
[reword for clarity --P64 2022-03-25] As of 2013-10-06, Dirk Zimmer among those 4 named cover artists is not represented by a cover image.[2]

"Children's Story"? Is there an edition with the subtitle we show in the lead sentence, A Children's Story in Five Nights? WorldCat --P64 (talk) 17:07, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
